Austrian A Bundesliga round 26 best performance: Radosav Spasojevic - Mar 5, 2013

Radosav
Spasojevic
Montenegrin power forward Radosav Spasojevic (204-F/C-92, agency: Interperformances) had an amazing evening in the last round for Arkadia, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 26.
The 20-year old player had a double-double of 22 points and 14 rebounds, while his team beat St.Polten (#10, 3-21) 74-68. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on the top of the standings. Arkadia maintains the 11th position in Austrian A Bundesliga. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked at the very bottom. They already lost 21 games and recorded just two victories. In the team's last game Spasojevic had a remarkable 70.0% from 2-point range. It's his second year at Arkadia and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Radosav Spasojevic has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (5th best: 19.6ppg) and rebounds (8th best: 6.8rpg).

The second best player in last round's games was 25-year old American David Gonzalvez (193-G-87, agency: Limelight Hoops) of Wels. Gonzalvez had a very good evening with 20 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists. Of course he lead Wels to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Furstenfeld (#9, 8-15) 97-76. Wels' 5th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 14-9 record is not bad and everything may still change. Gonzalvez is a newcomer at Wels, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Arkadia's star - Argentinian center Matias Bortolin (205-C-93, agency: Interperformances). Bortolin scored 18 points and grabbed eleven rebounds (!!!). He was another key player of Arkadia, helping his team with a 74-68 win against slightly higher-ranked St.Polten (#10, 3-21). Arkadia can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 2-21 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Too bad for Bortolin he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Bortolin has a very solid season. In 21 games in Austria he scored 10.9ppg. He also has 6.4rpg, 1.2bpg and FGP: 55.0%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Joe Dean Shaw (199-F-87) of Kapfenberg - 31 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Blaz Cresnar (214-C-86) of Furstenfeld - 19 points and 10 rebounds
6. Darnell Hinson (186-PG-80) of Oberwart - 30 points and 2 rebounds
7. Markus Pinezich (190-G-88) of St.Polten - 21 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Shawn Ray (194-G/F-80) of BC Vienna - 22 points and 6 rebounds
9. Dario Hunt (203-F-89) of Gussing - 12 points and 12 rebounds
10. Elvis Kadic (201-F-80) of Gussing - 19 points and 5 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

2.Bundesliga Round 1 of Semi-Finals. Dragons and Raiders with victories - 7 hours ago
Dragons - Rocks 81-50 Dragons marched past Rocks in the opener. The game was mostly controlled by UBC St. Polten. Rocks was better in fourth quarter 14-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Rocks to just 4 points in third quarter. Martin Speiser (202-F-83) stepped up with 16 points for the winners. Mustangs - Raiders 74-88 Raiders Villach upset Mustangs on the road to grab 1-0 lead in the semifinal series....   [read more]

Clemmons' double-double lands him Player of the Week award - 4 days ago
22-year old point guard Anthony Clemmons (186-PG-94) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Vienna and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 33. He had a double-double of 31 points and 13 rebounds, while his team beat Furstenfeld (#7, 13-18) 78-66. Vienna maintains the 4th position in Austrian league. Vienna is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve the...   [read more]

A Bundesliga Round 33: Redwell Gunners Oberwart defeats Gmunden Swans in the game between Top 4 teams - 5 days ago
The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets. An interesting game for Redwell Gunners Oberwart (26-4) which hosted in Oberwart second-best Gmunden Swans (20-10). First ranked Redwell Gunners Oberwart managed to get a 4-point victory 77-73. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarte...   [read more]
