Deteri Mayes
Experienced naturalized American guard Deteri Mayes (189-G-74, agency: Court Side) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's second-best Kapfenberg and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 27.
The 38-year old guard had the game-high 30 points adding five rebounds and four assists for Kapfenberg in his team's victory, helping them to beat Oberwart (#6, 14-11) 74-66. Kapfenberg maintains the 2nd position in Bundesliga. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Kapfenberg will need more victories to improve their 18-7 record. In the team's last game Mayes had a remarkable 77.8% from 2-point range and got three three-pointers out of 7 attempts. It's his second year at Kapfenberg and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Deteri Mayes averages this season 13.4ppg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 26-year old Slovenian center Blaz Cresnar (214-C-86) of Furstenfeld. Cresnar impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 16 points and 18 rebounds. Of course he lead Furstenfeld to another comfortable win 91-75 over slightly lower-ranked Arkadia (#11, 2-22) being unquestionably team leader. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Furstenfeld keeps 9th position. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 9-15 record. Cresnar is a newcomer at Furstenfeld and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. alumni Cresnar played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas.

The third best performed player last round was Italian Fabricio Vay (206-F-86, agency: Interperformances) of Arkadia (#11). Vay showcased his all-around game by recording 26 points, fourteen rebounds (!!!) and seven assists in the last round. Despite Vay's great performance Arkadia lost 75-91 to slightly higher-ranked Furstenfeld (#9, 9-15). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Arkadia can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 2-22 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Too bad for Vay he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Vay has a very solid season. In 4 games in Austria he scored 24.5ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Tyrone Sally (201-F-82) of Furstenfeld - 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists
5. Eric Gilchrese (183-PG-87) of UBSC Graz - 18 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists
6. David Gonzalvez (193-G-87) of Wels - 25 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Richard Chaney (196-G-84) of Oberwart - 22 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Thomas Klepeisz (185-PG-91) of Gussing - 22 points and 4 rebounds
9. Radosav Spasojevic (204-F/C-92) of Arkadia - 19 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Samo Grum (193-G/F-79) of Furstenfeld - 19 points and 4 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
