Barons kvartals - Rudupis 73-76

Rudupis snatched win in Latvia to step closer to the Baltic League Final. Barons kvartals trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 22-12 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 73-76 at the end of the game. Strangely Barons kvartals outrebounded Rudupis 45-29 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Estonian Siim-Sander Vene (203-90, agency: Alti Sport) fired 12 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Swingman Gediminas Orelikas (200-90) chipped in 19 points. American forward Tyler Cain (203-88, college: S.Dakota) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 18 rebounds and the other American import guard Jamar Diggs (187-88, college: Wofford, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for lost side. Four Barons kvartals players scored in double figures. Barons kvartals' coach Martins Gulbis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help.

Kalev/Cramo - Ventspils 64-61

Kalev/Cramo earned a tough home win over Ventspils to surge ahead in the semifinal series. It looked good early as Ventspils took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Kalev/Cramo had a 18-10 second period charge getting the lead and Ventspils were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 61-64. They outrebounded Ventspils 40-29 including 29 on the defensive glass. Kalev/Cramo brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of Senegalese center Bamba Fall (217-86, college: SMU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds. U.S. Virgin Islands center Frank Elegar (208-86, college: Drexel) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. American guard Folarin Campbell (192-86, college: George Mason) answered with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import point guard Donald Sims (185-87, college: Appalachian St.) added 10 points in the effort for Ventspils.

New BBL season ready for tip-off - 6 days ago
The 2017/2018 Baltic Basketball League season is just about ready to tip off! Two groups of seven - 14 teams in total - will battle for the crown and represent five countries. Valmiera/ORDO (LBL) signed 20-year old guard Eduards Hazners (192-97). He played last season at VEF Riga in the LBL. In 14 games he had 6.3ppg and 2.0rpg. Hazners helped them to win the league title despite they ended the regular season at the second place. Hazners also played 11 games in VTB United League where he recorded just 1.0ppg. Anrijs Miska (ex Viten Fuen.) joins Valmiera - 29 days ago
Valmiera/ORDO (LBL) agreed terms with Latvian forward Anrijs Miska (203). He played last season at Viten Getafe Fuenlabrada in Spanish EBA league. In 16 games he had just 2.3ppg and 1.5rpg. He was voted All-European Championships U18 Honorable Mention in 2017. The previous (15-16) season Miska was tested by Real Madrid (Spain) in Spanish league.
