Rudupis - Ventspils 69-91

Ventspils made a huge step towards the crown after they knocked down Rudupis in Prienai. The game was mostly controlled by Ventspils. Rudupis was better in third quarter 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ventspils shot 64.7 percent from the field. Ventspils outrebounded Rudupis 28-16 including a 23-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three nailing 14 long-distance shots on high 73.7 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Folarin Campbell (192-86, college: George Mason) who helped to win the game recording 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists (perfect behind the arc making all five shots). Forward Akselis Vairogs (195-85, agency: Players Group) contributed with 12 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five Ventspils players scored in double figures. Swingman Gediminas Orelikas (200-90) answered with 15 points and guard Arturas Milaknis (195-86) added 13 points in the effort for Rudupis.

Barons/Kvartals celebrated the win in the consolation final series opener. The teams will now clash in Estonia later in the week. The hosts trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 13-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 79-71. American forward Tyler Cain (203-88, college: S.Dakota) fired 14 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Lithuanian Deividas Dulkys (198-88, college: Florida St.) chipped in 17 points. Four Barons kvartals players scored in double figures. Barons kvartals' coach Martins Gulbis used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Senegalese center Bamba Fall (217-86, college: SMU) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and U.S. Virgin Islands center Frank Elegar (208-86, college: Drexel) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side.

Valmiera/ORDO (LBL) signed 20-year old guard Eduards Hazners (192-97). He played last season at VEF Riga in the LBL. In 14 games he had 6.3ppg and 2.0rpg. Hazners helped them to win the league title despite they ended the regular season at the second place. Hazners also played 11 games in VTB United League where he recorded just 1.0ppg. Valmiera/ORDO (LBL) agreed terms with Latvian forward Anrijs Miska (203). He played last season at Viten Getafe Fuenlabrada in Spanish EBA league. In 16 games he had just 2.3ppg and 1.5rpg. He was voted Eurobasket.com All-European Championships U18 Honorable Mention in 2017. The previous (15-16) season Miska was tested by Real Madrid (Spain) in Spanish league. Pieno Zvaigzdes Pasvalys (LKL) signed 26-year old American guard Ryan Harrow (188-73kg-91, college: Georgia State, agency: 3Eye). He played last season at Rosa in Polish PLK league. In 12 games he had 15.0ppg, 3.0rpg and 4.3apg. Harrow also played that season for VL Pesaro in Italian Serie A where in 20 games he recorded 10.2ppg, 2.5rpg, 3.0apg and 1.4spg.
