Talented Henadziy Zakhar (198-SF-92) had a great game in the last round for league's second-best Impuls BGUIR and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 4 (Second Stage). The 20-year old had a double-double of 17 points and fourteen rebounds, while his team crushed Borisfen (#3, 6-23) with 17-point margin 83-66. Impuls BGUIR maintains the 2nd position in Belarusian Premier League. Impuls BGUIR is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. But it was their 17th lost game this season out of 28 games. Zakhar has many years of experience at Impuls BGUIR, through which he has constantly improved. Zakhar has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (7th best: 14.1ppg), rebounds (5th best: 8.9rpg) and averages solid 2.4spg.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Ukrainian forward Maks Adam Konate (200-F-91) of Svisloch. Konate impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 22 points and 20 rebounds. Bad luck as Svisloch lost that game 68-85 to slightly higher-ranked Sozh Gomel (#2, 19-8). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in Championship. Svisloch still maintains its place in the top 3 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 12-16 record. Konate is one of the most experienced players at Svisloch and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.1ppg (#3). He also registered 12.6 boards per game.
The third best performed player last round was Ukrainian Dmytro Khodov (203-F-87) of second-ranked Sozh Gomel. Khodov showcased his all-around game by recording 18 points, eight rebounds and four assists in the last round. He was a key player of Sozh Gomel, leading his team to a 85-68 easy win against #3 ranked Svisloch. Sozh Gomel needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in Championship. Their record at this point is 19 victories and 8 lost games. Khodov has a very solid season. In 14 games in Belarus he scored 10.5ppg.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Yuriy Ignatiev (198-F-91) of Impuls BGUIR - 23 points and 11 rebounds 5. Sergei Miakinin (206-F/C-86) of Sozh Gomel - 16 points and 7 rebounds 6. The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
