Belarus gained an important victory in Group E of the U20 European Championship to keep their playoff hopes alive. They defeated Slovak Republic as both teams are now tied at 2-3 record in the standings. Maryia Papova (186-PF-94) finished with 20 points and 11 boards to lead the winners.
The teams stayed close throughout the opening quarter. The scoreboard read 11:11 after ten minutes. The teams remained neck and neck throughout the second frame. Belarus and Slovak Republic were locked at 31-all at halftime. Belarus pulled in front in the third term. They held Slovak Republic at 6 points in the period to take an 8-point lead into the fourth frame. Belarus maintained the lead throughout the fourth period and secured a vital win at the end. Darya Lipinskaya (180-SG-93) netted 14 points, while Katsiaryna Urbanovich (185-F-93) had 7 points for the winners. Zofia Hruscakova (190-C-95) answered with 15 points for Slovak Republic. Angelika Slamova (173-G-94) had 14 points in the loss.

BK Tsmoki-Minsk (Premier League) confirmed in their roster 22-year old forward Yauhenija Styapanava (176-95). She has played there for the last three seasons. Styapanava managed to play in three leagues last year. In 26 Premier League games she had 6.9ppg, 4.7rpg, 1.6apg and 1.5spg. She helped them to win the League title and the cup. Botasspor Adana (KBSL) inked 23-year old Belarusian international forward Maryia Papova (189-85kg-94). She played most recently at Galatasaray in the KBSL. In 30 games she recorded 9.5ppg, 4.2rpg, 1.7apg and 1.3spg last season. Papova helped them to make it to the semifinals.
