The most important game in the last round took place in Quaregnon between second ranked Belfius Mons-Hainaut (14-8) and fifth ranked Antwerp Giants (12-10) on Friday night. Belfius Mons-Hainaut was defeated by Antwerp Giants in a tough game at home 79-86. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Belfius Mons-Hainaut. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 50-42 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Antwerp Giants made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. The former international guard Roel Moors (190-78) scored 21 points and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and the former international center Yannick Driesen (215-88) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American forward Josh Bostic (196-87, college: Findlay, OH) responded with 26 points (made all of his eight free throws). Belfius Mons-Hainaut's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Antwerp Giants have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 12-10 record. Belfius Mons-Hainaut at the other side dropped to the third place with eight games lost. They share the position with Aalstar. Antwerp Giants are looking forward to face higher ranked Okapi Aalstar (#4) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Belfius Mons-Hainaut will play against Leuven Bears and is hoping to win this game.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Okapi Aalstar (14-8) against fourth ranked Spirou Charleroi (14-7) on Thursday night. Visiting Okapi Aalstar was defeated by Spirou Charleroi in a tough game in Charleroi 86-91. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Okapi Aalstar. Americans were the main players on the court. Swingman Devin Green (201-82, college: Hampton) notched 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and Justin Hamilton supported him with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 30 points and 4 assists by Derek Raivio (190-84, college: Gonzaga) did not help to save the game for Okapi Aalstar. Spirou Charleroi moved-up to second place. Okapi Aalstar at the other side keeps the third position with eight games lost. They share it with M.Hainaut. Spirou Charleroi will play against bottom-ranked VOO Verviers-Pepinster (#8) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Okapi Aalstar will play against Antwerp Giants (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Verviers supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Base Oostende (15-7) played at the court of 8th ranked VOO Verviers-Pepinster (4-18). Base Oostende did not have too big problems ending evening with a very confident victory 87-67 on Saturday. Wesley Wilkinson fired 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Base Oostende's coach Dario Gjergja used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Chris Ferguson produced 16 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader. VOO Verviers-Pepinster lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 18 games lost. Base Oostende will meet at home Liege Basket (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. VOO Verviers-Pepinster will play against the league's second-placed Spirou Charleroi and hope to secure a win.
The game in Liege was also worth to mention about. 6th ranked Leuven Bears (7-14) played at the court of seventh ranked Liege Basket (7-15). Liege Basket defeated Leuven Bears 80-66. Worth to mention a great performance of Gary Ware who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Leuven Bears' coach tested ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. Liege Basket maintains seventh position with 7-15 record. Leuven Bears at the other side keep the sixth place with 14 games lost. Liege Basket's next round opponent will be league's leader Base Oostende on the road and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.



Verviers-Pep. - Oostende 67-87

The game in Verviers supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Base Oostende (15-7) played at the court of 8th ranked VOO Verviers-Pepinster (4-18). Base Oostende did not have too big problems ending evening with a very confident victory 87-67 on Saturday. The game without a history. Base Oostende led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 25-of-28 free shots (89.3 percent) during the game, while VOO Verviers-Pepinster only scored five points from the stripe. American Wesley Wilkinson (207-84, college: Nebraska) fired 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Slovenian forward Dragisa Drobnjak (200-77, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 17 points (perfect from the field making all six shots). Base Oostende's coach Dario Gjergja used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center Chris Ferguson (206-89, college: Mid-Continent) produced 16 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Stephane Moris (207-86, agency: Promotex) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. The game in Liege was also worth to mention about. 6th ranked Leuven Bears (7-14) played at the court of seventh ranked Liege Basket (7-15). Liege Basket defeated Leuven Bears 80-66. It looked good early as Leuven Bears took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Liege Basket had a 23-16 second period charge getting the lead and Leuven Bears were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 66-80. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Gary Ware (205-83, college: Purdue, agency: TSS Management) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). International forward Wen Boss Mukubu (198-83, college: UAB, agency: SportsTalent) contributed with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. International point guard Niels Marnegrave (191-87) replied with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and naturalized American forward Ian Hanavan (202-80, college: Evansville, agency: Interperformances) added 10 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Leuven Bears. Five Liege Basket and four Leuven Bears players scored in double figures. Leuven Bears' coach tested ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. Very important is a road loss of third ranked Okapi Aalstar (14-8) against fourth ranked Spirou Charleroi (14-7) on Thursday night. Visiting Okapi Aalstar was defeated by Spirou Charleroi in a tough game in Charleroi 86-91. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Okapi Aalstar. The hosts were already 13 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 29-21 Okapi Aalstar's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 91-86 at the end of the game. Spirou Charleroi made 23-of-28 charity shots (82.1 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Spirou Charleroi especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Americans were the main players on the court.
