Port of Antwerp Giants II vs. Kangoeroes Boom: 76-82
The Kangoeroes did not win easily. They nevertheless managed to defeat the young Giants of coach Luc Smout after a nice derby played in Merksem last weekend. Dieter Souveryns (193-F/G-83) who scored 26 points was the MVP of the game. Kangoeroes Boom is the only Division II team for which the Ethias League's licence commission accepted the convincing licence C dossier (semi-pro status and budget of 400,000 EUR) which could allow the team to reach the Belgian top league next season. Kangoeroes Boom of coach Tom Poppe will now focus on the Division II playoffs which will start next weekend with a best-of-three semi-final series against Sint-Niklase Condors. With the win over the Giants II, Kangoeroes clinched the pole position for the playoffs. Kangoeroes' US player Tarick Johnson, injured, could be back in action in the first game of the playoffs.

Giants II: N/A
Kangoeroes: S. Hemeleers 5, W. Dobbeleare 14, D. Souveryns 26, W. Van Schil 7, M. Gorremans 18, D. Dhaens 9, A. Mollekens 3.

Excelsior Brussels vs. Sint-Jan Antwerp: 95-74
The Jantjes always trailed behind and were unable to overpass their hosts on Sunday afternoon. With this defeat, Sint-Jan lost all chances of participating to the playoffs this season. Excelsior had a total of 41 rebounds in this game. Special mention to Nick Verrept (192-SF-80) who had a great performance in offense for the Brussels team. Another news of importance also filtered last Friday evening: the Excelsior's dossier requested to apply for the licence C was rejected by the licence commission of the Ethias League. Excelsior has appealed and might have to wait a while for a final decision from the league.
Score evolution: 27-19, 52-34, 82-56 and 95-74.

BBC Haantjes Oudenaarde vs. Sint-Niklase Condors: 82-79
Despite the short loss in Oudenaarde, the Condors of coach Steve Ibens have got their ticket for the 2013 Division II playoffs. The Condors will face Ethias League candidates Kangoeroes Boom in the playoff semi-finals (first game at 20:45 on 2013-04-19 in Boom). Quite a few Condors' fans had made the short trip to Oudenaarde to cheer on their favourite team last weekend. The Condors were close until the last seconds of the game but it was not sufficient to avoid a nice Haantjes' win. Some transfer news on the Condors' side: Wannes Scheirs (200-C-80), arriving from Erembodegem in Division III, will join the Klaasjes next season.

Gent Dragons vs. Point Chaud Sprimont: 73-83
Jerome Flagothier (210-C-86) in the first half and Gilles Vrancken (192-PF) from long range in the second half were particularly efficient and led their team to a great success at the Tolhuis in Ghent. The Greens of Sprimont celebrated nicely the end of the season, they even had a 15-point advantage in the second quarter (29-44). In Ghent, a new team, with a new name, is under preparation for next season.
Score evolution: 22-27, 42-47, 59-60 and 73-83.

BasKet Tongeren vs. Essor Charleroi (Spirou B): 94-78
Nice win for BK Tongeren in their last game in Division II, also a last game for team mates who has played together for almost 14 years.

Union Mons Hainaut II vs. Gembo BBC: 81-99
Excellent game played by the guys of Stefan Sappenberghs away at the Mons Arena where the young Foxes of coach Patrick Verdun challenged one of the Division II top favourite teams. The young Mons squad took the lead at half-time but could not avoid a very efficient third quarter by the Gembo side. Gembo was led by Domien Loubry (186-G-85) and especially Ward Lemaire (196-F-80) who was present in all sectors of the game. The young Foxes could not react against the zone defence set by Stefan Sappenberghs' team in the third quarter. The Gembo team finishes second in the regular season's standings. BBC Gembo will face Cuva Houthalen in the best-of-three playoff semi-finals (first game in Houthalen on Friday 2013-04-19).

CEP Fleurus vs. Cuva Houthalen: 98-92
CEP F played against the three top-ranked teams in the last three rounds of the regular season: a win against Kangoeroes Boom at the Salle Andre Robert in Fleurus, a large defeat against Gembo BBC in Borgerhout and against Cuva Houthalen at home last Friday. CEP Fleurus played strongly through the whole last game and was especially efficient in fastbreak situations and from long range. Despite a fantastic performance by US player Brian Tracey (195-F-88, college: Bentley), the hosts never seemed to panick and remained ahead until the final buzzer. Danger came from all sides for CEP F: Louis Hazard (199-F-94) with his famous first step driving the defense nuts, Amaury Marion (196-F-91) and Thomas Bauwens (192-F-86) particularly good from three-point range and Christian Ilongo (194-F-85, agency: Promotex) pretty quick and athletic as always. After 13-13 in the first quarter, Cuva led by a very talented and powerful Brian Tracey, an excellent playmaker Chiel Koonings (180-PG-90), a great shooter Ronnie McCollum (192-G-78, agency: Two Points, college: Centenary, LA) and an experienced center Odell Hodge (204-C/F-73, college: ODU) had to chase behind the CEPmen of coach Paul Vervaeck. Also to be mentioned: Cuva coach Brian Lynch will be the asistant of CEP F coach Paul Vervaeck next year at Port of Antwerp Giants in the Ethias League. Despite the loss, Cuva will join the playoff dance! The Limburgers will face BBC Gembo in the best-of-three semi-final stage. Cuva's other US shooter Jason Westrol (191-G-88, college: Bentley, injured and sitting on the bench in Fleurus) should be back next week. Before the game, a short ceremony was held in honor of experienced CEP F shooter Jeremy Vanesse (198-F-80) who decided to quit playing basketball at the end of this season.
