Port of Antwerp Giants II vs. Point Chaud Sprimont: 93-68

The young Giants beat Point Chaud Sprimont at the Sporthal Roosendael in Merksem last Sunday. The young players of Luc Smout gave no chance to their visitors from the Liege region.

Excelsior Brussels vs. Cuva Houthalen: 83-90

Three Cuva players were injured in this game: Odell Hodge (204-C/F-73, college: ODU, knee), Hans Vanwijn (197-F-95, tooth) and Jason Westrol (191-G-88, college: Bentley, ankle). Great efforts by Kanefu "Sam" Semijejero (195-PF-77) were not enough for Excelsior. Cuva of coach Brian Lynch managed to get on top in the last quarter. See free highlights on Telebruxelles.net: http://www.telebruxelles.net/portail/info/info-sportive/24329-basket-lexcelsior-defait-a-domicile.
Score evolution: 25-19, 39-40, 61-63 and 83-90.

Cuva: N/A

BBC Haantjes Oudenaarde vs. BasKet Tongeren: 78-97

Despite the news that BK Tongeren will quit playing in Division II next season (staff decision), Peter Pipeleers (202-F/C-80), Herbert Baert (204-F-75) and mates keep doing well on the court. They travelled to Oudenaarde and came back with a very nice win last Sunday.

Bent Schoenen Waregem vs. Sint-Niklase Condors: 73-56

The Condors have lost some points in their race to the play-offs. Special mention to hardworking player Bart Willy Samaey (199-C-87) who keeps grabbing rebounds, playing good defense and scoring each week. Samaey scored 16 points last weekend against the Condors.
Score evolution: 20-16, 34-29, 53-44 and 73-56.
Best scorers:
BS Waregem: B. Samaey 16, S. Naudts 12, S. Dhondt 4, A. Steinbach 9, A. Gueye 12, T. Foucart 3, O. Foucart 15, T. Delmulle 2.
Condors: N/A

Gent Dragons vs. Gembo BBC: 65-79

Despite the good start of the Dragons, the Gembo guys of coach Stefan Sappenberghs found a good rhythm later on in this game played at the Tolhuis in Ghent. Led by Domien Loubry (186-G-85), the visitors had an excellent second half in offense. See free highlights on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ccf8L0e6lvE&list=UUoSEPiDqNhOjhQW7eAC-isQ&index=3.

Gembo: N/A

Sint-Jan Antwerp vs. Kangoeroes Boom: 78-85

The battle for the fourth Division II play-off spot remains exciting. The Jantjes are still in the race and hosted the current leading team Kangoeroes Boom last weekend. The visitors, led by their three scorers Mitchel Gorremans (191-G/F-85), Dieter Souveryns (193-F/G-83) and Witse Van Schil (188-G-83), quickly took a lead. Sint-Jan's playmaker Vinnie Haerbos (180-PG-90) stopped the Kangoeroes later on in the game. Vincent Verbeeck (196-F-87) and Senne Geukens (190-G-83) allowed the Jantjes to have a 41-36 advantage but, thanks to a 0-13 run, the Kangoeroes of coach Tom Poppe impressed the attendance. Great shots from long range and great impulse by KaBo newcomer Tarick Johnson (192-G/F-81, agency: R.H.Consultancy, college: Campbell) made the difference in the last moments of the game.
Score evolution: 16-20, 37-36, 52-55 and 78-85.
Best scorers:
Sint-Jan: V. Haerbos 10, B. Hartshorne 6, V. Verbeeck 8, B. Raes 2, N. El Khounchar 5, S. Geukens 25, L. Anthonis 11, M. Brown 11.
Kangoeroes: S. Bellin 9, W. Dobbelaere 13, D. Souveryns 18, W. Van Schil 15, M. Gorremans 14, Johnson 16.

CEP Fleurus vs. Essor Charleroi (Spirou B): 76-74

Spectacular plays by Christian Ilongo (194-F-85, agency: Promotex) and Christian Manzanza (193-F-85, college: Peninsula JC) in crucial moments. Essor players Boris Penninck (202-C-88) and Yann Siegwarth (184-PG-93) were pretty inspired on Friday night. They combined 43 points for their team in this game. Penninck is a former CEP F player. The arrival of Troy Gottselig (203-F-87) among the Spirou B team, a strong player from Canada, was also the focus of many observers' attention. His first game with Essor Charleroi was not bad. The game was decided on a great three-pointer by CEP clutch player Kevin Jonniaux (198-G-83) in the last seconds before the final buzzer. Also to be mentioned: only six players scored for CEP while only four guys scored for Essor. The visitors probably had their best game this season and their coach Pascal Angilis could smile despite the short loss. See free highlights on Telesambre: http://telesambre.rtc.be/content/view/16961/166/.
Score evolution: 23-19, 45-39, 58-61 and 76-74.
Best scorers:
CEP F: A. Marion 12, K. Jonniaux 12, C. Manzanza 16, T. Bauwens 6, L. Hazard 16, C. Ilongo 14.
Essor: Y. Siegwarth 25, A. Lambot 19, T. Gottselig 12, B. Penninck 18.

Essor Charleroi (Spirou B) vs. Union Mons Hainaut II: 68-81

Excellent game by Amaury Gorgemans (211-C-92) for the visitors. The young Foxes were better organised and the experience as well as the discipline of their coach Patrick Verdun probably made a difference. Patrick Verdun will leave Union Mons Hainaut and will face new challenges as coach of CEP Fleurus next season. Verdun had already coached CEP Fleurus from 2003 to 2006. Troy Gottselig showed some good skills again and Boris Penninck was pretty efficient in offense for the losing side.
Best scorers:
Essor: Y. Siegwarth 9, A. Lambot 7, T. Gottselig 13, Y. Diop 6, B. Penninck 25, M. Steenberghs 4, A. Eyenga 4.
Mons Hainaut II: M. Pretto 5, E. Lecomte 16, L. Schwartz 18, D. Walasiak 10, M. Renard 10, A. Gorgemans 22.

Antwerp - Brussels 81-90 Basic-Fit Brussels looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Antwerp Giants helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities.
