Point Chaud Sprimont vs. Sint-Jan Antwerp: 65-76

After their win over Sprimont, the Jantjes are now ranked fourth in the Division II competition. Sint-Jan had a hard time to get rid of their hosts, always tough to play in their own facilities. Jerome Flagothier (210-C) and Gaetan Hertay (195-F-88) had an excellent first quarter for the home team but Senne Geukens (190-G-83) helped the visitors take a larger lead in the second half of the game (58-68 for the Jantjes with 5 minutes remaining on the clock). Sint-Jan also outrebounded PC Sprimont 48-34. Also special mention to Vincent Kesteloot (198-F-95) (16 points) for his good offensive performance for the Jantjes.
Score evolution: 26-23, 41-45, 53-58 and 65-76.
Best scorers:
PC Sprimont: F. Manset 6, F. Delsaute 9, J.-B. Thome 6, G. Vrancken 6, J. Flagothier 19, G. Hertay 10, G. Donnay 10.
Sint-Jan: V. Haerbos 3, B. Hartshorne 8, N. El Khounchar 4, A. Druwez 10, S. Geukens 25, L. Anthonis 7, V. Kesteloot 16, M. Brown 3.

Gembo BBC vs. BBC Haantjes Oudenaarde: 114-77

A large win for Gembo BBC over the Haantjes. The lack of defense on the visitors' side at some point allowed the Gembo players to easily run down the court and set fastbreaks, usually ended with spectacular plays.
See free highlights made available on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSfd7LDgTaA&list=UUoSEPiDqNhOjhQW7eAC-isQ&index=4.
Score evolution: 36-13, 63-36, 87-61 and 114-77.

Cuva Houthalen vs. Bent Schoenen Waregem: 101-87

Chiel Koonings (180-PG-90) as well as US player Brian Tracey (195-F-88, college: Bentley) were outstanding in this game last weekend. On the visitors' side, the big men Stan Naudts (195-F-86), Stijn Dhondt (197-F-79, college: Boston U.), Bart Samaey (199-C-87) and Ahmet Gueye (203-C/F-82, college: Hawaii) were well-present and did a good job in the paint. This was nevertheless not enough to stop excellent Cuva shooters like Nick Celis, Chiel Koonings, Ronnie McCollum (192-G-78, agency: Two Points, college: Centenary, LA) and Jason Westrol (191-G-88, college: Bentley). One scoop filtered last week: Ludo Horions will coach Cuva Houthalen next season.
Score evolution: 17-12, 48-36, 86-62 and 101-87.
Best scorers:
Cuva: N/A
BS Waregem: A. Steinbach 9, S. Naudts 14, O. Foucart 19, T. Foucart 3, S. Dhondt 10, A. Gueye 15, B. Samaey 15, L. Loontiens 2.

Sint-Niklase Condors vs. Port of Antwerp Giants II: 74-73

It could have been the surprise of last weekend's Division II action... The men of coach Steve Ibens had a tough time to win this game against Dennis Donkor (194-G/F-91, agency: Three Eye Sports) and his young mates of Port of Antwerp Giants II. Despite this difficult game, the Condors remain competitive in the race for the 2013 Division II Play-Offs.

BasKet Tongeren vs. CEP Fleurus: 81-98

Sebastien Bellin (205-C-78, agency: Prossin Sports Management, college: Oakland) has just agreed to join CEP Fleurus for the 2013-14 season. Great success away for the CEP team. Christian Ilongo (194-F-85, agency: Promotex) was definitely the MVP of last week's game. Ilongo has scored 32 points in this game. Special mention to experienced players Jeroen Eskens (190-G-81, 21 points) and Peter Pipeleers (202-F/C-80, 20 points) on the losing side. Giovanni Mureddu, the very active President of CEP Fleurus, is also currently trying to find a new coach for next season. Moreover, some of the CEP Fleurus young talents -- Louis Hazard (199-F-94) and Amaury Marion (196-F-91) -- have also been contacted by Ethias League teams lately. The sad news is that BasKet Tongeren will quit playing in Division II next season. That is a real shame for basketball in Province Limburg.
Score evolution: 17-32, 42-50, 56-75 and 81-98.
Best scorers:
BK Tongeren: J. Van Hoecke 3, M. Hendrix 4, K. Doukmani 3, J. Delva 11, P. Pipeleers 20, H. Baert 2, J. Moonen 14, B. Vinkesteijn 3, J. Eskens 21.
CEP F: A. Marion 6, K. Jonniaux 18, J. Vanesse 2, C. Manzanza 14, T. Bauwens 7, L. Hazard 15, S. Muric 4, C. Ilongo 32.

Kangoeroes Boom vs. Gent Dragons: 87-68

Gent Evolution, the project set by J.R. Holden (185-G-76, college: Bucknell) to bring a Gentenaar club back to the Ethias League in 2013-14, is to be forgotten. J.R. Holden announced via Twitter last week that he wanted it to happen but business does not always go as planned. He added: "To all my Belgium supporters... the Gent (Evolution) project with myself involved is officially over. Good luck to the Gent Dragons!". The President of Gent Dragons, Yannick De Clercq, hopes to have his team back in Ethias League in 2014-15 this time.
On the court, the Dragons visited the Kangoeroes of coach Tom Poppe last weekend. The Kangoeroes are still having the ambition to join the Ethias League next season and proved last Saturday that they are ready for it. They literally left no chance to unresponsive Dragons in this game. After two great shots by Brian Heinle (205-F-78, agency: Court Side, college: CS Northridge) giving the Dragons a 15-20 lead in the first quarter, the visitors always struggled and always trailed behind in the second, third and fourth quarters. Sebastien Bellin, Dieter Souveryns (193-F/G-83) and Mitchel Gorremans (191-G/F-85) played the role of true leaders for the Kangoeroes in this match-up.
Score evolution: 27-24, 49-35, 69-55 and 87-68.
Best scorers:
Kangoeroes: S. Bellin 16, S. Hemeleers 8, W. Dobbelaere 6, D. Souverijns 22, M. Gorremans 26, D. Dhaens 7, A. Mollekens 2.
Dragons: B. Heinle 13, R. Spaens 8, L. Tielens 10, F. Lait 5, T. Van De Vondel 15, M. Van Gelder 3, L. Enobakhare 14.

Gembo BBC vs. Cuva Houthalen: 84-88 (played on 2013-03-05)

What a thriller! Cuva Houthalen, despite starting in a terrible way, won this very close game played on a Tuesday night. After the poor start for the Limburgers, Gembo's coach Stefan Sappenberghs decided to keep some of his starters on the bench. The visitors were very thankful and quickly came back in the race (from 26-4 to 36-23). Two three-pointers from downtown by Domien Loubry (186-G-85) allowed the Gembo boys to remain with a comfortable lead at the half: 47-29. Through their leaders Jason Westrol, Nick Celis and Ronnie McCollum, Cuva had a much better third and fourth quarters. Even if Westrol was fouled out with two minutes remaining in this game, Cuva managed to stay on top and Gembo, despite many efforts in offense by Domien Loubry, Nick Celis and Eli Van Aken (193-F-85), could never recover the cohesion shown in the first quarter. Final score: 84-88 for Cuva Houthalen. It was definitely one of the most thrilling games in Division II this season.
See free highlights on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZlEuz-JRGc&list=UUoSEPiDqNhOjhQW7eAC-isQ&index=7.
