Spirou Charleroi (12-6) outlasted Belfius Mons-Hainaut (12-7) in overtime by four points 94-90 on Saturday night. The game took place in Quaregnon. But the guests from Charleroi were better at the end. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Belfius Mons-Hainaut. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for Devin Green who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). Spirou Charleroi's coach Giovanni Bozzi used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Spirou Charleroi have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Belfius Mons-Hainaut at the other side dropped to the third position with seven games lost. Spirou Charleroi will face Liege Basket (#7) in Liege in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Belfius Mons-Hainaut will play on the road against the league's leader Base Oostende (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The most impressive stats of the last round was 16 points, 5 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals by Niels Marnegrave of Leuven.

Leuven - Verviers-Pep. 107-91

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 8th ranked VOO Verviers-Pepinster's (4-15) road loss to seventh ranked Leuven Bears (6-12) 91-107 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Leuven Bears. VOO Verviers-Pepinster was better in fourth quarter 33-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Leuven Bears shot 60.7 percent from the field. They also forced 19 VOO Verviers-Pepinster turnovers. Strangely VOO Verviers-Pepinster outrebounded Leuven Bears 35-22 including 17 on the offensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Leuven Bears especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. VOO Verviers-Pepinster was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American point guard Gerald Robinson (185-89, college: Georgia) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points and 4 assists. International point guard Niels Marnegrave (191-87) helped adding 16 points, 5 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Leuven Bears' coach Jurgen Van Meerbeeck allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American center Chris Ferguson (206-89, college: Mid-Continent) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and forward Yannick Moray (199-91, agency: LBM Management) scored 20 points and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Leuven Bears moved-up to sixth place. Loser VOO Verviers-Pepinster stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. Leuven Bears will face higher ranked Antwerp Giants (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. VOO Verviers-Pepinster will play against Okapi Aalstar.

Rather predictable result when first ranked Base Oostende (14-5) edged on the road 5th ranked Antwerp Giants (9-10) 69-67 on Friday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-20. But Antwerp Giants won second period 22-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Antwerp Giants were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American guard Matt Lojeski (198-85, college: Hawaii) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 6 rebounds. Croatian-German swingman Mario Stojic (198-80, agency: Interperformances) helped adding 12 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side American point guard Timothy Black (178-81, college: Barton, NC, agency: Limelight Hoops) responded with 17 points and 5 assists and the former international guard Roel Moors (190-78) scored 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Defending champion maintains first place with 14-5 record. Loser Antwerp Giants keep the fifth position with ten games lost. Base Oostende will face Belfius Mons-Hainaut (#3) in Quaregnon in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Liege Basket (6-13) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Okapi Aalstar (12-7) 85-68 on Friday. The game without a history. Okapi Aalstar led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 18-of-19 free shots (94.7 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American guard Ryan Thompson (198-89, college: Rider) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points. His fellow American import Derek Raivio (190-84, college: Gonzaga) helped adding 17 points and 5 rebounds. Four Okapi Aalstar players scored in double figures. At the losing side American power forward Gary Ware (205-83, college: Purdue, agency: TSS Management) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and international forward Wen Boss Mukubu (198-83, college: UAB, agency: SportsTalent) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Okapi Aalstar moved-up to third place, which they share with M.Hainaut. Liege Basket lost their seventh game in a row. They dropped to the seventh position with 13 games lost. Okapi Aalstar will face bottom-ranked VOO Verviers-Pepinster (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Liege Basket will play against the league's second-placed Spirou Charleroi.
