2013 Division II Playoff Finals - Kangoeroes Boom vs. Gembo BBC: 0-2

Kangoeroes Boom vs. Gembo BBC: 86-99
After an excellent start by the visitors in this Game 1 of the Division II Playoff Finals (best-of-three series), the Kangoeroes reacted well and had a 13-1 run to make 23-23. Domien Loubry (186-G-85), unstoppable again, was able to raise his level of play and hit great shots. Gembo digged the gap: 34-51. Mitchel Gorremans (191-G/F-85) and Dave d'Haens (210-C-81) helped KaBo come back into the race at 49-55. The Gembo players, already Division II champions in 2012, kept showing great team spirit and it was suddenly 61-75 on the scoreboard. Last efforts by Dieter Souveryns (193-F/G-83) were not sufficient for the Kangoeroes of coach Tom Poppe. After 75-78, the Gembo guys were undoubtedly on top in the money time.
Score evolution: 23-25, 49-55, 68-78 and 86-99.

Kangoeroes: W. Dobbelaere 16, D. Souveryns 30, W. Van Schil 3, T. Johnson 3, M. Gorremans 21, D. Dhaens 9, A. Mollekens 4.

Gembo BBC vs. Kangoeroes Boom: 86-83
For the second season in a row, Gembo of coach Stefan Sappenberghs wins the Division II title. There was a fantastic atmosphere at the Luisbekelaar Sporthal in Borgerhout on Sunday. After a real thriller, Gembo's Green Army led by Domien Loubry and Nick Celis (194-G-88) earned the 2013 Division II crown. Despite 45-32 after two technical fouls against Boom, the Kangoeroes remained always very close: 22-23 in the first quarter with a fantastic Dieter Souveryns for the visitors, 45-40 with 7 points in a row for KaBo's Wim Dobbelaere (198-F/C-85), 66-66 and 86-83 on the scoreboard. Dieter Souveryns had two final attempts from long range for KaBo in the last minute of the game but it did not change anything. Gembo players will leave their current club next season: Domien Loubry and Nick Celis are going to play for Excelsior Brussels in Ethias League in 2013-14 and Yannick Desiron (206-C-92) will definitely join the Leuven Bears in Ethias League next summer. According to Belgium's dutch-written daily newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws, Arno Mollekens (195-PF-94) will leave KaBo to join BBC Gembo Borgerhout next season.
