Division II - Playoff semifinal series (best-of-three)

Cuva Houthalen vs. BBC Gembo: 0-2

Cuva Houthalen vs. BBC Gembo: 63-90

Despite the return of Jason Westrol (191-G-88, college: Bentley) for the home team (after four weeks without playing due to ankle injury), Cuva Houthalen lost Game 1 of the best-of-three semifinal series. Cuva's guests left almost no chance to their hosts and had an excellent first quarter. Cuva only scored 9 points in the first ten minutes of the game. The defense of Gembo was excellent in the first and second quarters but thanks to a great reaction, especially by Jason Westrol and Ronnie McCollum (192-G-78, agency: Two Points, college: Centenary, LA), came back at 36-39 after 23 minutes of play. Eli Van Aken (193-F-85, 9 points in a row) and Domien Loubry (186-G-85) from three-point range were pretty efficient afterwards and Gembo digged the gap again in just four minutes: 38-57. A time-out was taken by Cuva's coach Brian Lynch but it did not help. BBC Gembo eventually won Game 1: 63-90.

Score evolution: 9-18, 29-37, 43-64 and 63-90.
Best scorers:
Cuva: C. Koonings 8, R. McCollum 12, J. Westrol 10, B. Tracey 10, W. Jacobs 5, H. Vanwijn 9, O. Hodge 9.
Gembo: D. Loubry 23, N. Celis 8, E. Van Aken 17, W. Lemaire 7, P. Van Rillaer 2, M. Goethaert 8, Goetgeluck 8, T. Marien 3, M. Swinnen 5, A. Van Roey 4.

BBC Gembo vs. Cuva Houthalen: 94-83
This team of BBC Gembo looks ready and fit to win a second Division II title in a row. Despite starting at a slower pace than in Game 1 of the semifinal series, the home team reacted well and went from 3-7 to 14-7. After 25-16 and great plays by Domien Loubry and his mates, Cuva's US player Jason Westrol led his team to a nice comeback. After 51-55, Gembo raised its level of play and showed more fighting spirit. Gembo's Eli Van Aken and Maarten Goethaert (192-G-80) gave some impulse and the scoreboard suddenly showed 72-63. Cuva Houthalen of coach Brian Lynch was never able to come back and the home team, boosted by Ward Lemaire (196-F-80), kept a good tempo until the final buzzer.
Score evolution: 26-19, 47-46, 75-63 and 94-83.
Best scorers:
Gembo: D. Loubry 22, N. Celis 24, E. Van Aken 11, W. Lemaire 15, P. Van Rillaer 8, M. Goethaert 3, Goetgeluck 1, M. Swinnen 3, Y. Desiron 8.
Cuva: C. Koonings 6, B. Maesen 10, R. McCollum 10, J. Westrol 14, B. Tracey 19, E. Montanari 1, J. Delalieux 3, W. Jacobs 11, D. Clemente 2, O. Hodge 7.

BBC Kangoeroes Boom vs. Sint-Niklase Condors: 2-1

BBC Kangoeroes Boom vs. Sint-Niklase Condors: 74-75
Surprising win for the visiting Condors of coach Steve Ibens away in Kangoeroes' home Sporthal De Schalk last Friday. Special mention to Elias Lasisi (192-G/F-92, agency: Court Side), a double-affiliated player (also involved in Ethias League with Leuven Bears) who scored 25 points for the visitors in this very close Game 1. After a great match-up between top scorers Mitchel Gorremans (191-G/F-85) of Kangoeroes Boom and Elias Lasisi of Sint-Niklase Condors in the first quarter (16-21), the Kangoeroes kept having difficulties to outcompete their guests.
Score at the half: 31-34.
Best scorers:
Kangoeroes: N/A
Condors: B. De Beukeleer 6, E. Lasisi 25, J.-P. De Decker 8, B. Bogaert 4, S. Vermeulen 10, D. Bovoy 9, N. Maris 9, J. Gerlo 4.

Sint-Niklase Condors vs. BBC Kangoeroes Boom: 76-84
The Condors, via their website, complained about a decision taken by one of the referees in the third quarter of Game 2. Nevertheless, the Kangoeroes of coach Tom Poppe , who will all be involved in the Ethias League next season, have been able to tie it at 1-1 in this best-of-three semifinal series.
Score at the half: 40-41.
Best scorers:
Condors: B. De Beukeleer 14, E. Lasisi 13, J.-P. De Decker 6, S. Vermeulen 15, D. Bovoy 2, N. Maris 14, J. Gerlo 12.
Kangoeroes: N/A

BBC Kangoeroes Boom vs. Sint-Niklase Condors: 78-60
After the first half domineeringly led by the Kangoeroes, Sint-Niklase Condors had nothing else to lose. Scoring nevertheless remained a real problem for the Condors of coach Steve Ibens and KaBo was still in front after 30 minutes in the game: 65-40 on the scoreboard. The Kangoeroes gave no chance to their opponents, even in the last quarter, and join BBC Gembo in the 2013 Division II Playoff Finals.
Score at the half: 43-29.

Euromillions League Round 31: Belfius Mons-Hainaut beats Basic-Fit Brussels by one after a very close game - 6 hours ago
The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets. Host teams show no mercy winning all games. The most exciting game of round 31 in the Euromillions League took place in Jemappes. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 3rd placed Basic-Fit Brussels (18-13) to eighth ranked Belfius Mons-Hainau...   [read more]
