Oostende adds Ponitka to their roster, ex Asseco Prok. - Aug 3, 2013

Ponitka
Telenet Oostende (Ethias League) added to their roster 20-year old Polish international swingman Mateusz Ponitka (196-92kg-93). He played last season at Asseco Prokom Gdynia in Polish TBL league. In 34 games he recorded 8.7ppg and 4.2rpg. He helped them to make it to the supercup final. A very spectacular season in his career as he was voted to Polish League All-Star Game. Ponitka also played 10 games in Euroleague where he averaged 8.8ppg, 3.5rpg and 1.0spg.
Ponitka was voted Eurobasket.com All-European Championships U20 Division B 1st Team in 2013.
The previous (11-12) season he played at AZS Politechnika Warszawska (1Liga) in Polish league. In 30 games he averaged 13.6ppg, 4.6rpg, 1.3apg and 1.4spg (in top 5) that season. He contributed to his team winning the league title. Great season indeed as he was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Polish League Honorable Mention.
He has been also a member of Polish international program for some years. Ponitka has regularly played for Polish senior team since 2011 and two years ago for U22 National Team. He represented Poland at the European Championships U20 Division B in Pitesti (Romania) this year. Ponitka's team won Gold and his stats at that event were 8 games: 15.6ppg, 5.5rpg, 1.1apg, Steals-5(2.0spg), FGP-3(66.0%), 3PT: 46.7%, FT: 70.8%.
Ponitka has played also professionally in .
The scouts decsribe him following way: Very strong guard, great quickness and leaping ability ... outside shooting threat ... can score from anywhere ... is explosive in taking the ball to the hole ... strong defensively.
