Achara
Lukoil Academic Sofia (NBL) strengthened their roster with addition of 30-year old Scottish international power forward Kieron Achara (208-108kg-83, college: Duquesne, agency: Two Points). He has a double citizenship as he also holds Nigerian passport. He managed to play in three leagues in two countries last year (!!!). Achara played most recently at Enosi Kalathosfairisis Kavalas in Greek A1 league. In 14 games he recorded 9.5ppg, 5.1rpg, 1.1apg and 1.1bpg. Achara also played 7 games in Balkan League where he averaged 12.9ppg, 6.0rpg and 1.1apg. He also played at Glasgow Rocks (BBL) in British league that season. In 6 games he averaged impressive 17.0ppg, 8.3rpg, 1.7apg and 1.0bpg.
The previous (11-12) season Achara played at La Bruixa d'Or Manresa (Liga Endesa) in Spanish league. In 34 games he averaged 6.0ppg and 3.5rpg.
In 2010-11 season he played at Sigma Barcellona (Lega Due Gold) in Italian league. In 31 games he averaged 9.9ppg, 6.5rpg, 2.3spg and 1.2bpg. He helped them to make it to the semifinals. Great season indeed as he was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Italian Lega2 3rd Team and All-Bosmans Team.
In 2009-10 season Achara played at Angelico Biella (SerieA) in Italian league. In 29 games he averaged 5.6ppg, 3.3rpg and 1.1spg. He also played 6 games in Eurocup where he averaged 6.8ppg, 3.2rpg and 1.7bpg.
In 2008-09 season Achara played at Fortitudo Pallacanestro Bologna 103 (Lega Due Silver) in Italian league. In 26 games he averaged 4.6ppg, 3.2rpg and 1.1spg. He also played 5 games in Eurocup where he averaged 4.0ppg and 1.2rpg. Achara received All-Atlantic 10 Student-Athlete of the Year award back in 2008 at his college time.
Achara has been also a member of Scottish international program for some years. He has regularly played for Scottish senior team since 2002 and previously for U20 National Team in 2001. Achara represented Scotland at the Olympic Games in London (United Kingdon) last year. His stats at that event were 4 games: 4.0ppg, 2.3rpg.
Achara has played previously professionally in Spain (Unicaja Malaga) and Scotland (Clark Eriksson Fury).
He attended University of Duquesne until 2008 and it will be his sixth season in pro basketball.
