Experienced Serbian Mladen Pantic (209-C-82, agency: Alti Sport) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's second-best Levski Sofia and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 22. The 30-year old center had a double-double of 27 points and eleven rebounds, while his team beat Spartak Pleven (#9, 5-17) 92-85. Levski Sofia maintains the 2nd position in Bulgarian NBL. They are still close to the very top. Levski Sofia would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 18-4 record. Pantic just recently signed at Levski Sofia, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Mladen Pantic averages just after three games 17.7ppg and 7.7rpg.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 23-year old American forward Angelo Caloiaro (203-F-89) of Rilski Sportist. Caloiaro impressed basketball fans with 24 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Bad luck as Rilski Sportist was edged by the lower-ranked U20 (#10, 1-21) 73-72. Rilski Sportist managed to keep the same 3rd spot in the standings. His team's 15-7 record is not bad at all. Caloiaro is one of the most experienced players at Rilski Sportist and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.
The third best performed player last round was Dimitar Marintchechki (201-F/C-90, agency: Dynamics Global Management) of Spartak Pleven (#9). Marintchechki scored 27 points and grabbed thirteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Marintchechki's great performance Spartak Pleven lost 85-92 to the higher-ranked Levski Sofia (#2, 18-4). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Spartak Pleven can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 5-17 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Marintchechki he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Marintchechki has a very solid season. In 22 games in Bulgaria he scored 15.7ppg. He also has 6.6rpg and FGP: 68.2%.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Dimitris Haritopoulos (205-F/C-83) of Lukoil Academik - 23 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists 5.
