The Regular Season in NBL is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 5 rounds.

The most important game in the last round took place in Sofia between third ranked Rilski Sportist (15-7) and tenth ranked U20 (1-21) on Saturday night. Rilski Sportist was edged by U20 in a tough game on the road 72-73. Rilski Sportist was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. U20 forced 19 Rilski Sportist turnovers. Center Velislav Galabov (207-94) fired 14 points for the winners. Forward Aleks Simeonov (200-93) chipped in 9 points and 7 rebounds. U20's coach Lyubomir Minchev used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American-Italian forward Angelo Caloiaro (203-89, college: USF) produced 24 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for lost side. Newly promoted U20 maintains tenth position with 1-21 record. Rilski Sportist at the other side keeps the third place with seven games lost. U20 are looking forward to face higher ranked Beroe (#6) in Stara Zagora in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Rilski Sportist will play on the road against the league's second-placed Levski Sofia having rather not much hope for a victory.
Leader Lukoil Academik delivered the twentiethth victory. This time they crushed 7th ranked Euroins Cherno More (8-14) 112-71 in Varna. Worth to mention a great performance of Greek power forward Dimitris Haritopoulos (205-83, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 23 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Veselin Veselinov contributed with 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American guard Larry Hall (190-83, college: W.Oregon) replied with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for Euroins Cherno More. Euroins Cherno More's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Lukoil Academik (20-2) have an impressive ten-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position. Euroins Cherno More lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with 14 games lost. Lukoil Academik will play against Tundja Yambol (#5) at home in the next round. Euroins Cherno More will play against Spartak Pleven and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Rest of the games of round 22 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Chernomorets defeated Beroe in Burgas 94-82. Balkan beat Tundja Yambol at home 79-74. Levski Sofia won against Spartak Pleven on the opponent's court 92-85.


Beroe - Chernomorets 82-94

There was a minor upset in Stara Zagora where 6th ranked Beroe (9-13) was defeated by eighth ranked Chernomorets (9-13) 94-82. The game was mostly controlled by Chernomorets. Beroe was better in third quarter 23-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Chernomorets shot 62.1 percent from the field. Chernomorets outrebounded Beroe 39-28 including a 32-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three nailing 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. Chernomorets players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American center James Tyler (218-88) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Bogdan Boev (196-82) contributed with 24 points and 5 assists for the winners. Tyler is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American guard Will Walker (183-87, college: De Paul) replied with 14 points, 7 assists and 6 steals and his fellow American import center Mitchell Carter (208-100, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) added 18 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Beroe. Four Beroe players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Chernomorets have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with defeated Beroe. Chernomorets will play against higher ranked Balkan (#4) in Botevgrad in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Beroe will play at home against U20 in Sofia and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Balkan - Tundja Yambol 79-74

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked Balkan's (14-8) home victory over 5th ranked Tundja Yambol (11-11) 79-74. Tundja Yambol was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 43-36 second half run of Balkan. They made 27-of-35 charity shots (77.1 percent) during the game, while Tundja Yambol only scored seven points from the stripe. Tundja Yambol was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Jordan Bozov (191-79, agency: Global Sports Plaza) who helped to win the game recording 26 points. Brazilian center Atila Santos (208-83, college: Minnesota St., agency: Warren Sports International) contributed with 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Montenegrin power forward Nemanja Milosevic (204-87, college: W.Kentucky, agency: Interperformances) replied with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 17 rebounds and the former international point guard Julian Radionov (187-79) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Tundja Yambol. Four Tundja Yambol players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Balkan maintains fourth position with 14-8 record. Tundja Yambol lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 11 games lost. Balkan will play against Chernomorets (#7) in Burgas in the next round. Tundja Yambol will play on the road against the league's leader Lukoil Academik in Sofia and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Very expected game when 9th ranked Spartak Pleven (5-17) was defeated at home by second ranked Levski Sofia (18-4) 92-85. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-16. But Spartak Pleven won second period 25-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Spartak Pleven was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian center Mladen Pantic (209-82, agency: Alti Sport) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). Serbian point guard Marko Marinovic (183-83) contributed with 26 points and 4 assists for the winners. Levski Sofia's coach Konstantin Papazov allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games.
