Georgiev
Back in the year 2009 Rilski Sportist hosted the first ever Final Four of the EUROHOLD Balkan League and became the first champion of the tournament. Now the team will host the Final Four once again and the president of the club Mr. Petar Georgiev says he hopes the event will not be different than the bigger European tournaments:

"Samokov has the ambitions to organize an excellent competition, an excellent Final Four. Our goal for this Final Four is it to be not so different that those of the bigger European competitions. This season, despite the fact that this tournament had some very strong teams in it, we managed to qualify for the Final Four, so we'll do everything we can to perform well until the end.

We try to play good basketball for the Bulgarian standards and as you can all see not only that, but for the standards of the Balkans as well. Now the entire Balkans know about Samokov as a city with a good basketball team. I think the conditions Samokov can offer are one of the best in the country for basketball games.

Of course, this Final Four will cost more than the first one. Back then it was the first one ever in the EUROHOLD Balkan League and I can say we have been developing together - we walk our path together step by step, right from the start. Of course, the goals we have set include the organization of the Final Four to be very good and this means more money invested in it.

I do not expect anything special in the game versus Levski. I think all the tension between the two teams needs to be quickly quelled by the referees. I can definitely say that the referees in the EUROHOLD Balkan League are much different that those in our local championship though and you have to watch the game to see for yourselves that this is the truth. For these 5 years I have had almost no complaints."

Dejan Ivanov
Samsun lands Dejan Ivanov - 12 hours ago
Samsunspor DSI (TBL) tabbed 31-year old Bulgarian ex-international power forward Dejan Ivanov (205-104kg-86, agency: BeoBasket). He is not a newcomer in Turkish League as he played most recently at Yesilgiresun in Turkish BSL league. In 18 games he averaged 10.0ppg, 5.7rpg and 1.1apg last season. TBL will be definitely a better match and he can see more playing time. Ivanov also played that season for Gaziantep (also in BSL) where in 11 games he had 13.4ppg, 7.0rpg and 1.5apg. He also pla...   [read more]
