The Second Stage in A1 just ended.

Round 14 in A1 means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Zagreb where host Cibona (12-2) edged league's leader Cedevita (11-3) 85-84 on Tuesday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Cedevita. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Cedevita was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 26-21 charge of Cibona, which allowed them to win the game. They made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. Cibona outrebounded Cedevita 40-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. 26 personal fouls committed by Cedevita helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American guard D.J. Strawberry (196-85, college: Maryland) who scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. The other American import point guard Jerel Blassingame (175-81, college: UNLV) chipped in 15 points and 6 assists. American guard Bracey Wright (191-84, college: Indiana, agency: Priority Sports) produced 20 points and 5 assists for the guests. Cedevita's coach Jaksa Vulic tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader. Cedevita at the other side dropped to the second place with three games lost. They share the position with Zadar. They were replaced at the leadership position by Djuro Djakovic.

KK Zadar have an impressive five-game winning streak. KK Zadar moved-up to second place, which they share with Cedevita. Jolly at the other side keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. They share it with Kvarner 2010.

The game with biggest result difference took place in Rijeka. Local Kvarner 2010 (7-7) beat 6th ranked KK Split (5-9) 79-64. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Kvarner 2010's pressure prevailed and they won that period 20-9 extending their advantage to 15 points. Power forward Ivica Radic (208-90, agency: XL Basketball Agency) notched a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and forward Dino Cinac (198-88) supported him with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Four Kvarner 2010 players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 23 points and 13 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) by swingman Josip Sobin (203-89, agency: XL Basketball Agency) did not help to save the game for KK Split. Guard Paolo Marinelli (193-95) added 12 points and 4 assists for the guests. Kvarner 2010 moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Jolly. KK Split at the other side keeps the sixth position with nine games lost.

American Romeo Travis (201-84, college: Akron) contributed with 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Kolossos H Hotels (A1) agreed terms with 26-year old Croatian guard Toni Prostran (182-91). He played last season at Nevezis in Lithuanian LKL league. In 29 games he had 11.0ppg, 2.5rpg and 7.0apg (leader !!!). Quite impressive season as he was selected Eurobasket.com All-Lithuanian LKL Bosman Player of the Year and named to Honorable Mention. KK Cedevita Zagreb (A1) to sign 32-year old American power forward Chris Johnson (210-107kg-85, college: LSU) who plays at Anhui Wenyi in China.
