The most exciting game of round 9 in the A1 took place in Zadar. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of second-best KK Zadar (6-3) to first ranked Cibona (8-1) 87-86 on Saturday evening. The guests trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 21-19 charge, which allowed them to win the game. American point guard Jerel Blassingame (175-81, college: UNLV) stepped up and scored 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and his fellow American import guard D.J. Strawberry (196-85, college: Maryland) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Marko Ramljak (201-93, agency: Interperformances) with 24 points and 5 rebounds. KK Zadar's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion maintains first place with 8-1 record. KK Zadar at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. Cibona are looking forward to face Alkar Sinj (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. KK Zadar will play against KK Zagreb (#7) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.

Bosnian forward Miralem Halilovic (205-91) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds for KK Zagreb in the defeat. Cedevita maintains second place with 7-2 record behind leader Djuro Djakovic. KK Zagreb at the other side keeps the seventh position with seven games lost. Cedevita will play against KK Split (#6) on the road in the next round. KK Zagreb will play against KK Zadar and hopes to get back on the winning track.

KK Split will play at home against the league's second-placed Cedevita in Zagreb.

Alkar Sinj - Kvarner 2010 53-62

Bottom-ranked Alkar Sinj (0-9) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their ninth consecutive match to sixth ranked Kvarner 2010 (4-5) 62-53 on Saturday evening. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Kvarner 2010 forced 21 Alkar Sinj turnovers. The best player for the winners was forward Ivica Radic (208-90) who scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Dino Cinac (198-88) chipped in 10 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Zeljko Zupic (205-81, college: Denver) who recorded 10 points and 8 rebounds and Josip Matic (202-92) added 3 points and 7 rebounds respectively. It was a good game for American guard Ronald Ross (188-83, college: Texas Tech, agency: LUMANI 10.7) who led his team to a victory with 21 points. Forward Mate Mrva (195-83) contributed with 8 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Jolly's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Swingman Josip Sobin (203-89) answered with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Toni Katic (188-92) added 10 points in the effort for KK Split.
