Cibona rallied past Union Olimpija in Zagreb today. It was the 9th win for the Croatian team in the Adriatic League season. Andrija Zizic (207-C-80, agency: Beo Basket) stepped up with 22 points and 9 rebounds to lead the hosts. Cibona started the game strongly. The hosts raced to a 23:17 lead after ten minutes. Cibona kept the Slovenian powerhouse at distance throughout the second frame. The Croats piled up a 44:33 halftime advantage. Union Olimpija tuned in defensively after the big break. The visitors held Cibona to 12 points in the third quarter and narrowed the margin at 8-point mark 48:56. But Cibona reacted with their own aggressive defensive effort in the final period. Union Olimpija managed just 14 points in the fourth term and had to surrender at the end. Jerel Blassingame (175-PG-81, college: UNLV) netted 17 points, while D.J. Strawberry (196-G-85, college: Maryland) had 12 points for the hosts. Sasu Salin (192-G-91) answered with 17 points for Union Olimpija.
