Croatian U16 National Team opened the international tournament with victory. They defeated their Russian counterparts. Ivana Dojkic (176-SG-97) nailed 34 points to pace the hosts.
Russia jumped to an early lead. They grabbed a 25:17 advantage ten minutes into the game. Croatia cut the deficit in the second frame. The hosts got within two points at the interval 36:38. Croatia finally pulled ahead in the third term. They eked out a 57:54 lead heading into the fourth period. The lead changed hands for several times before Croatia finally sneaked to a narrow win. Iva Slonjsak (181-SG-97) notched 13 points and 11 boards, while Dora Jordanic (168-PG-97) and Dora Goles (167-PG-97) finished with 6 points each for the winners. Raisa Musina (189-F/C-98) answered with 24 points and 11 boards for Russia. Mariya Vadeeva (190-C-98) had 20 points and 12 boards in defeat.
