Croatian A1 round 9 (Second Stage) best performance: Ivica Radic - Apr 28, 2013

Ivica Radic
Forward Ivica Radic (208-F-90) had a great game in the last round for Kvarner 2010, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 9 (Second Stage).
The 22-year old player was the main contributor (15 points, nine rebounds) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Alkar Sinj (#8, 0-9), Second Stage botton-ranked team 62-53. Kvarner 2010 is placed at 5th position in Croatian A1. Kvarner 2010 is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. But it was their 5th lost game this season out of 9 games. Radic turned to be Kvarner 2010's top player in his first season with the team. Ivica Radic has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (6th best: 14.9ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 7.2rpg) and averages impressive 54.4% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 23-year old Josip Sobin (203-G/F-89) of KK Split. Sobin had a very good evening with a double-double of 25 points and 11 rebounds. Bad luck as KK Split lost that game 61-70 to slightly higher-ranked Jolly (#4, 5-4). This loss caused KK Split to drop to 6th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 4-5 record. Sobin is one of the most experienced players at KK Split and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was Bosnia and Herzegovina forward Miralem Halilovic (205-F-91) of KK Zagreb (#7). Halilovic scored 20 points and grabbed fourteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Halilovic's great performance KK Zagreb lost 87-94 to the higher-ranked Cedevita (#2, 7-2). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. KK Zagreb can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 2-7 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Halilovic he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Halilovic has a very solid season. In 20 games in Croatia he scored 8.7ppg. He also has 4.9rpg and FGP: 53.2%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Marko Ramljak (201-PF-93) of Zadar - 24 points and 5 rebounds
5. Jerel Blassingame (175-PG-81) of Cibona - 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists
6. Miro Bilan (215-C-89) of Cedevita - 15 points and 5 rebounds
7. Mate Mrva (195-F-83) of Jolly - 8 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists
8. Ante Delas (200-G/F-88) of Zadar - 24 points and 3 rebounds
9. Ronald Ross (188-G-83) of Jolly - 21 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Karlo Zganec (205-F/C-95) of KK Zagreb - 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Former international Center Luka Zoric (211-C-84) had an amazing evening in the last round for Cibona, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 26.
