We bring you last week's top performances from Croatians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is former international forward Kresimir Loncar (210-83, agency: Alti Sport, currently plays in VTB United League). He was the major contributor in Khimky's victory against the seventh-ranked Lietuvos rytas (8-9) 88-79 in the VTB United League in Monday night's game. Loncar recorded 15 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and made 2 blocks in 21 minutes on the court. BC Khimky Moscow Region (13-4) is placed first in group A. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the VTB United League Regular Season. And that game will be critical. This year Loncar averages: 7.9ppg, 3.0rpg, 2FGP: 60.2%(50-83) and FT: 79.4% in the 16 games he played so far. He played for the Croatian senior national team three years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to an international point guard Roko-Leni Ukic (196-84, currently plays in Euroleague), who plays in Greece. Ukic could not help Panathinaikos (6-4) in their last game on Friday. Despite his good performance the fourth-placed Panathinaikos was defeated 66-60 on the road by the lower-ranked Unicaja Malaga (#5) in the group E of Euroleague. Ukic was the second best scorer with 14 points. He also added 5 rebounds. There are only four games left until the end of the Euroleague Top 16. So now every game is very crucial. It's Ukic's first season with the team. Ukic's overall stats this year are: 9.6ppg, 2.7rpg, 2.4apg, 2FGP: 49.5%, 3FGP: 35.3% and FT: 65.2%. He is in the roster of the Croatian senior national team.

   #3. The Croatian player who performed third best last week abroad was former international center Ante Tomic (217-87, currently plays in Spain). Tomic led Regal FC Barcelona to a victory against the 13th-ranked CB Canarias (9-15) 89-81 in the Spanish ACB on Sunday night. He scored 11 points, had 4 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 24 minutes. Regal FC Barcelona (15-9) is placed third in the ACB. Tomic is the league's best rebounder with 6.9rpg. This year his other stats are: 12.7ppg, 1.2apg, 1.1bpg, 2FGP: 61.7%(129-209) and FT: 66.7% in the 24 games. Tomic played for the Croatian national team two years ago.

   #4. Center Luka Zoric (211-84, currently plays in Euroleague) faced previously mentioned Roko-Leni Ukic in the Euroleague last game. Zoric contributed to an Unicaja Malaga's victory against the closely-ranked Panathinaikos (6-4) 66-60. He recorded 14 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. There are only four games left until the end of the Euroleague Top 16. So now every game will be important. Zoric has relatively good stats this season: 11.9ppg and 4.9rpg. He is also Croatian national team player.

An experienced former U21 international forward Jasmin Perkovic (205-80, agency: Court Side, currently plays in Adriatic League) was not able to help Un.Olimpija (13-11) in their game against Cibona (9-15) in the Adriatic League, despite his very good performance last Sunday. Perkovic was the second best scorer with 13 points. He also added 3 steals in 21 minutes. But Un.Olimpija lost 62-74 in Zagreb to the lower-ranked (#10) Cibona. There are only two games left until the end of the Adriatic League Regular Season. So now every game will be extremely important. This year Perkovic's overall stats are: 6.0ppg and 1.8rpg in the six games. He used to play for the Croatian U21 national team twelve years ago.

   #6. Swingman Fran Pilepic (193-89, currently plays in Eurocup) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked ratiopharm Ulm (3-3) crushing them 101-78 in the Eurocup on Tuesday night. Pilepic scored 12 points. It was the game of the round between two top 2 ranked teams in group J. Gescrap Bizkaia Bilbao Basket (4-2) is placed first. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. This season Pilepic averages only 6.1ppg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Croatian National Team roster.

International center Darko Planinic (211-90, currently plays in Euroleague) contributed to a Maccabi T-A's victory against the seventh-ranked Fenerbahce Ulker (2-8) 94-85 in the Euroleague in Thursday night's game. Planinic recorded 11 points in only a mere 12 minutes. Maccabi Electra Tel-Aviv (5-5) is placed fifth in group F. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Euroleague Top 16. This year Planinic's total stats are: 4.7ppg and 1.5rpg in the 10 games. He is also Croatian national team player.

   #8. Center Jure Lalic (210-86, currently plays in Adriatic League) was not able to secure a victory for Krka (9-15) in their game against Cedevita (13-11) in the Adriatic League. Despite his very good performance last Monday Lalic was the top scorer with 17 points. He also added 5 rebounds and made 2 blocks. There are only two games left until the end of the Adriatic League Regular Season. Lalic has averaged so far 9.9ppg and 4.1rpg. He used to play for the Croatian U20 national team back in 2006.

   #9. Former international power forward Mario Delas (207-90, currently plays in Euroleague) couldn't help Zalgiris (4-6) in their game against Real Madrid (9-1) in the Euroleague. Delas recorded 7 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 20 minutes. Zalgiris (#6) was edged in an overtime 105-104 at home by the leading Real Madrid in the group E of Euroleague. There are only four games left until the end of the Euroleague Top 16. Delas has averaged so far 2.9ppg and 1.9rpg in the 19 games. He used to play for the Croatian national team four years ago.

   #10. Guard Marko Popovic (185-82, college: S.Idaho JC, currently plays in Euroleague) is a teammate of previously mentioned Mario Delas and both played together in the last Euroleague game. Popovic couldn't help Zalgiris (4-6) in their game against Real Madrid (9-1). He recorded 8 points and added 3 passes. Zalgiris (#6) was edged in an overtime 105-104 on their home court in Kaunas by the leading Real Madrid in the group E of Euroleague. This season Popovic has relatively solid stats: 13.5ppg, 1.5rpg and 2.1apg. He is a former international player as two years ago he still played for the Croatian senior national team.

   #11. Former international power forward Tomislav Ruzic (207-79, currently plays in Turkey) led Tofas to a surprising victory over the second-ranked Fenerbahce Ulker 81-73 in the Turkish TBL last Sunday. Ruzic was MVP of the game. He scored 19 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 26 minutes. Ruzic has averaged so far 9.1ppg and 3.5rpg in the 21 games. He used to play for the Croatian national team thirteen years ago.

   #12. Former international power forward Drago Pasalic (208-84, currently plays in Turkey) couldn't help Turk Telekom in their game against Anadolu Efes in the Turkish TBL, despite his very good performance in Saturday night's game. Pasalic had a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 11 rebounds. He also added 2 blocks in 29 minutes. But his team lost 69-74. Pasalic has reliable stats this year: 11.8ppg, 5.9rpg and 1.3apg in the 21 games. He used to play for the Croatian national team back in 2009.

   #13. International point guard Rok Stipcevic (185-86, currently plays in Italy) helped VL Pesaro win their game against the ninth-ranked Enel Brindisi 94-90 in the Italian SerieA last Sunday. Stipcevic recorded 22 points and added 5 passes. Stipcevic has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 18.8ppg, 3.3rpg, 2.9apg and 1.6spg. Stipcevic is also Croatian national team player.

   #14. International swingman Krunoslav Simon (197-85, agency: Beo Basket, currently plays in Euroleague) is a teammate of previously mentioned Luka Zoric and both played together in the last Euroleague game. Simon helped his Spanish team Unicaja Malaga win their game against the closely-ranked Panathinaikos 66-60. He recorded 9 points in 32 minutes. Simon has averaged so far 9.9ppg, 3.3rpg and 2.6apg in the 19 games. He plays currently for the Croatian national team.

   #15. Former international forward Hrvoje Peric (203-85, currently plays in Italy) couldn't help Vanoli Cremona in their game against Cantu in the Italian SerieA. Despite his very good performance in Sunday night's game Peric was the second best scorer with 17 points. He also added 6 rebounds. Peric's stats this season are: 12.3ppg, 4.9rpg, 1.4apg and 1.1spg. He used to play for the Croatian national team six years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Croatian passport but never been selected to any of Croatian national teams:

   #1. Anthony Drmic (198-G/F-92, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA could not help the one of league's weakest teams Boise St. (9-7) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite Drmic's very good performance the Boise St. was defeated 68-64 on the road by the University of Nevada - Las Vegas. He recorded 22 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Drmic's team will play only one more game in the NCAA Regular Season. Drmic has averaged so far 9.1ppg and 3.5rpg. He has a dual citizenship: Croatian and Australian.

   #2. Experienced Stipe Modric (206-F-79, currently plays in Slovenia) led Geoplin Slovan to a victory over the closely-ranked Maribor Messer (12-6) 87-80 in the Slovenian Telemach League on Saturday night. Modric was the best player in that game. He scored 25 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Geoplin Slovan Ljubljana (8-10) is placed sixth in the Telemach League. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the Regular Season. Modric has averaged so far 9.8ppg, 4.8rpg and 1.5apg. He is another player who holds two passports: Croatian and Slovenian.

   #3. Mladen Primorac (210-C-90, currently plays in Slovenia), who plays in the Slovenian Telemach League was not able to help Tajfun (12-6) in their last game. Despite Primorac's very good performance Tajfun lost 75-79 in Rogaska Slatina to the lower-ranked (#5) Rogaska. He was the second best scorer with 17 points in 20 minutes. It was Tajfun's first loss after nine consecutive victories. Primorac's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. Primorac averaged so far 13.4ppg and 6.5rpg in the 18 games he played so far.

   #4. Ljubisa Vrcelj (210-C-84, college: Jacksonville, currently plays in Bulgaria) was the main contributor in a Euroins Cherno More's victory against the eighth-ranked Chernomorets (6-13) 86-81 in the Bulgarian NBL last Saturday. He was the best player in that game. Vrcelj recorded a double-double by scoring 24 points and getting 11 rebounds. Cherno More Port Varna (5-1) is placed first in the NBL. Vrcelj belongs to league's best rebounders and is ranked #6. He has very reliable stats this season: 12.4ppg and 7.8rpg. Vrcelj has both Croatian and Canadian nationalities.

   #5. Sandi Marcius (206-F-90, currently studies in the States), who plays in the NCAA was not able to secure a victory for the Purdue (8-10) in their last game. Despite his good performance the Purdue lost 75-80 at home to the University of Michigan. Marcius scored 13 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in a mere 18 minutes. His team will play only one more game in the NCAA Regular Season. Marcius is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Purdue's roster. Marcius averaged so far 12.4ppg and 7.8rpg in the 11 games.

   #6. Igor Maric (196-F-85, currently plays in Slovenia) faced previously mentioned Stipe Modric in the Slovenian Telemach League last game. Maric couldn't help Maribor Messer in their game against Geoplin Slovan. He scored 7 points. His team was defeated 87-80. Maric averaged so far 12.7ppg, 5.1rpg, 1.5apg and 1.1spg.

   #7. Milan Stegnjaic (204-F/C-81, currently plays in Austria) contributed to an UBSC Graz's victory against the closely-ranked Raiffeisen Wels 86-80 in the Austrian A Bundesliga on Saturday night. He was the best player in that game. Stegnjaic scored 25 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 34 minutes. He has individually a very good year with high stats. Stegnjaic averages: 15.7ppg, 6.4rpg and 1.2apg in the 24 games.

   #8. Igor Milicic (194-G-76, agency: Alti Sport, currently plays in Poland) couldn't help AZS Koszalin in their game against Energa Czarni in the Polish TBL. He recorded 7 points and added 6 passes. His team was defeated 85-77. Milicic has averaged so far 5.4ppg, 1.7rpg and 3.0apg. He also holds two passports: Croatian and Polish.

   #9. Milos Paravinja (212-C/F-79, currently plays in Slovenia) is a teammate of previously mentioned Stipe Modric and both played together in the last Slovenian Telemach League game. Paravinja contributed to a Geoplin Slovan's victory against the closely-ranked Maribor Messer 87-80. He scored 9 points. Paravinja has averaged so far 8.7ppg, 2.9rpg and 1.4apg. He has Croatian and Slovenian nationalities.

   #10. Marco Buljevic (197-G-87, agency: Court Side, currently plays in Germany) couldn't help ETB Wohnbau in their game against Oettinger Rockets Gotha in the German ProA (second division), despite his very good performance in Saturday night's game. Buljevic was the second best scorer with 13 points. He also added 4 rebounds in 31 minutes. But his team was edged 72-69. Buljevic averaged so far 10.6ppg, 2.0rpg and 2.0apg in the 25 games. He has dual citizenship: Croatian and German. Despite Buljevic's Croatian passport, he previously played for the German U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Croatian team.

Zagreb made their first addition for the upcoming season by signing Franko Sango (201-PF-92) on a one-year deal. Sango arrives from Italian Serie C Gold side Polisportiva Basket Lierna. He grew up with Zadar and has already played for Pet Bunara Zadar in A2 League and Djuro Djakovic Slavonski Brod. In his last Croatian A1 League's season, 2015-16 with Zadar, Sango averaged 4.5 point and 1.2 rebounds in 16 games. Juraj Segaric (ex-Helios Suns) joins Gostivar - 14 hours ago
Juraj Segaric(185-PG-93) will continue his career in Macedonia. He signed a one-year contract with Gostivar. Segaric started last season with Bulgarian side Beroe, in January moved to Jazine Arbanasi in Croatian A2 League and the next month joined Helios Suns, where he averaged 5.6 points, 2.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 0.4 steals in 13 Slovenian League games. Croatia - Ukraine 79:74 Croatia won Opatija home tournament beating Ukraine 79-74. Both teams stayed close to each other, Croatia won the first period 18-17, but then Ukraine replied with a 22-16 run.
