Thanasis
Skourtopoulos

The fourth game of the semi finals was the last for Etha Engomis which ends up the amazing two previous seasons where more or less won nearly everything. Petrolina AEK was by far a much better team and proved in the court as the supposed to be derby ended up with a +17 for AEK and Etha waived this season quite ok since two weeks ago the Engomis club won the Cyprus Cup and remained within the titles for a fourth consecutive season and the first without the coaching duet of Konstantinidis and Leivadiotis who ended up in Apoel and is close to a similar case scenario in their new team after the total recall succeeded against Keravnos with a nearly +30 win over the top seated team from Strpovolos.
In regards to the games now in more detail:
CytaVision Apoel - Keravnos Strovolou 92-67

Coach Konstantinidis and his troops in the most decisive game of the season not only won but thrashed the team of Coach Skourthopoulos (which by the way was dismantle since the two scandal punishements and the 2 injuries left Keravnos with - 4 players) and succeeded a psychological step towards the finals since in the last do or die game the Nicosia team will travel to Strovolos to simply win the game with a single point to qualify in the finals, something which becomes obviously easier after this humongous victory in a game which went also as high a +43 points for the home team in a double score 8 minutes before the end to 85-42!!! Against the team which ended in th
top seat of the regular season but is obviously not the most solid team of the league. Coach Thanasis Skourtopoulos will need a small miracle to wake up his players since their performance was below average and had nothing to do with the performance of the game which took place three nights ago in Strovolos, they simply remain in the 2-1 victory....

Apoel's total domination shown from the early stage where the players of Coach Thanasis Skourtopoulos were able to score only 3 points in the first five minutes where their defense was invisible with Apoel and Porter Troupe (196-G-83, college: Portland) (mainly) scoring in these first five minutes 16 points (16-3). Keravnos was helpless from all edges and the Strovolos players couldn't score at all not even without defense. The first half ended with 25-15 mainly due to Andreas Pilavas (194-G-83) (6 points at the end).

The second period was a bit more balanced with Thanasis Skourtopoulos players still not being able to score from any post and the Greek Coach trying to wake up his players with many changes and rotation which couldn't work at any give point of the game. Moreover, Keravnos was lacking in the center position since the veteran Damjanovic who was among the top performers in the victory three nights ago was injured, so the ex player of Keravnos Chan together with Kremen dominated in the rebounding area, especially Kremen was truly very good being the top scorer in the first half, with 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists.

The waterloo for Keravnos was the third period, with the second period ending up with 46-32 and Apoel by playing simple basketball and without any top special technique, succeeded to keep Keravnos in the girlish 7 points in ten minutes while the invisible defense was able to 'welcome' 29 points for Apoel with five players on behalf of Apoel reaching the double digits and Porter Troupe leading the team with 17 points, followed bv Dante Stiggers (188-PG-82, college: S.Mississippi) with 13, Mokongo , Kremen and Chan with 11 per head. The Nicosia team reached the 75 points at the end of the third period while Keravnos with difficulty the 39!

The fourth period was typical for Coach Thanasis Skourtopoulos who couldn't change anything to his team but simply do his magic to change the psychology and the momentum in the fifth game which will take place in the A. Papaellinas court in three days from now with all the odds being on Apoel's site even though there is a home advantage for Keravnos, is so unstable team which is quite easy for Apoel to travel in Strovolos and simply celebrate the qualification in the finals in Strovolos, besides it will not be the first time unfortunately for the few basketball fans of the historic basketball club.

It is worth mentioned that Keravnos had 22% in the 3p in compare to the 82% of Apoel!! An amazing record which will take some centuries to break with the only two three pointers missed by Kremen who had 4 out of 5 and Wells 0/1 while Porter Troupe, Mokongo and Dante Stiggers had a 100% from behind the arc!! On the other site, Maze had 1/7 three pointers, Corey Stokes (195-G-88, agency: Two Points, college: Villanova) 2/8, Demertzis 0/3, Zaharious 0/2 and Andreas Pilavas .

Top scorers:
Apoel: Dante Stiggers 18, Porter Troupe 17, Kremen and Morrison 14 per head, Mokongo and Chan 11 per head
Keravnos: Andreas Pilavas 17, Corey Stokes 16 and Demertzis 10

Petrolina AEK Larnakas - Michelin Etha Engomis 87-70
Without any real problem the home team of Coach Papadopoulos had no trouble to add its third win over the team of Etha and be able officially to play in the finals against Apoel or Keravnos, the team which will win in the decisive fifth game in Strovolos this coming Friday the 22nd of March.
The home team of AEK was dominant from the very first minute of the game and showed its moods from the early stage of the game as the first period ended with 25-16 and Etha remained pointless in the first five minutes (8-0), to only be able to score double digits three minutes before the end of the first half with AEK's top performer in this period being Charron Fisher (193-G/F-85, college: Niagara) who scored 10 points.

The second period was more balanced but AEK was obviously in a winning crescent and not only kept the deficit to double digits but increased it a bit since by the end of the first half the score went to 41-29. Coach Papadopoulos saw the Cyprus International Panteli being the top performer in this second period as he scored 7 points and together with Charron Fisher who continues his scoring crescent were the biggest threads for Etha. The Engomis team had in an average day its key players as Adegboye and Downey remained in the shallow waters while Cup was helpless and Donte Poole (190-G-89, college: Murray St.) was all alone against AEK's players.

The third period
was more or less like the previous two since Etha couldn't resist against AEK offensive performance as the Larnaka's team found some serious scoring from its other American duet, Williams and Ken Tutt (185-PG-84, college: ORU) who scored 7 and 5 points in this period, respectively. Cup woke up for a while but he was all alone as Donte Poole scored 4 points but the team in total was ready to end up its duties and the final end was coming very soon, since the momentum was totally for AEK.

Having all that in mind, the fourth and final period was a typical hypothesis as the players of the two teams knew the final winner from the first half already, so in the last period the defenses were off and the offenses were dominant. The final 87-70 is totally fair and AEK is officially in the finals for the first time in its history.

Top scorers:
AEK: Charron Fisher 24, Ken Tutt 14 points and 10 rebounds, Harrison 13, 7 rebounds and 5 block shots, Panteli 12 and 6 rebounds, Subotic 11
Etha: Donte Poole 12, Williams 13, Downey, Cup and Adegboye 11 per head

Division A Round 1 of Regular Season - 3 days ago
The Regular Season in Division A just started. The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Apollon (0-1) in Nicosia on Monday night. Visitors were rolled over by Apoel (1-0) 96-67.
