Australia leave no chance for Czech Republic at the Men's Preliminary Round Group C of the 27th Summer Universiade. Australia grabbed 85:57 win in their first game in Kazan.
Australia opened the game with 21-11 lead, but could not dominate the half. The European side replied with 21-15 rally in the second frame and reduced to 4 points at the halftime. The third period was decisive in the game when Australia erupted with a 35-11 surge and never looked behind. Both teams managed to add 14 points in the last stanza for the final result.
Todd Blanchfield (200-F-91) and Clint Steindl (201-F/G-89, college: St.Mary's, CA) top-scored for the winners with 15 points each, while Cody Ellis (203-F-90) added 14. Mitchell Young (206-F-90, college: St.Mary's, CA) followed them with 12 points. Adam Ciz (190-PG-91) replied with 14 points in the losing effort and Viktor Cvek (200-C-89) notched 8. Jiri Slavik (203-F-89), Tomas Voslajer (211-C-90) and Jakub Krakovic (205-F-90) delivered 7 points each in a loss.
