NBL is at the halfway of the Second Stage and there are still another 5 rounds left. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with defeat of the leader, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Levice (16-15) on the court of fourth ranked B&W Opava on Thursday night. Visitors were rolled over by B&W Opava 66-46. B&W Opava dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Levice's 18. B&W Opava forced 21 Levice turnovers. American guard Phil Martin (193, college: Cal-Riverside) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 6 rebounds. The former international guard Ladislav Sokolovsky (200-77) contributed with 8 points and 4 assists for the winners. American guard Brandon Fields (193-88, college: Nevada) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for Levice. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. B&W Opava (12-20) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain fourth place in Group A2. Levice at the other side still keeps top position with 15 games lost. B&W Opava are looking forward to face higher ranked Levharti Chomutov (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Levice will play against the league's second-placed USK Praha and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Important game to mention about took place in Svitavy. Fourth ranked B&W Opava (12-20) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 5th ranked Basketbal Svitavy (10-23) 77-75 on Saturday evening. The former international guard Jakub Sirina (185-87) stepped up and scored 21 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and Phil Martin chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. Polish center Pawel Mroz (215-84) responded with 21 points. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for B&W Opava. They maintain fourth place in Group A2 with 12-20 record. Basketbal Svitavy at the other side dropped to the sixth position with 23 games lost. B&W Opava will play against higher ranked Levharti Chomutov (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Basketbal Svitavy will have a break next round.
A very close game took place in Chomutov between BK Usti nad Labem and Levharti Chomutov. Seventh ranked BK Usti nad Labem (9-23) got a very close victory on the road over 3rd placed Levharti Chomutov (12-19). BK Usti nad Labem managed to escape with a 3-point win 96-93 on Wednesday evening. Thaddeus McFadden nailed 35 points (!!!) for the winning side. BK Usti nad Labem's coach Peter Balint used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Ladislav Pecka came up with 27 points and 5 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) for Levharti Chomutov in the defeat. BK Usti nad Labem maintains seventh place in Group A2 with 9-23 record. Loser Levharti Chomutov keeps the third position with 19 games lost. BK Usti nad Labem will meet higher ranked BK Lions Hradec (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Levharti Chomutov will play against B&W Opava and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

BK Decin's next round opponent will be league's leader CEZ Nymburk at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. NH Ostrava will play against BK Prostejov and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Visiting Levharti Chomutov was defeated by BK Lions Hradec in a tough game in J.Hradec 103-111. Matej Venta orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 5 assists. BK Lions Hradec's coach Karel Forejt allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. BK Lions Hradec moved-up to fifth place in Group A2. Loser Levharti Chomutov keeps the third position with 19 games lost. BK Lions Hradec will face BK Usti nad Labem (#7) at home in the next round. Levharti Chomutov will play against B&W Opava (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 5:
In Group A1 BK Prostejov beat BC Kolin on the road 84-72.
In Group A2 Levice destroyed Svitavy on its own court 93-74. USK Praha managed to outperform Usti n/Labem in a road game 64-50. Svitavy managed to beat J.Hradec at home 102-96.
The most impressive performance of 5th round was 32 points and 7 assists by Showron Glover of Chomutov.

Group A1
BK Decin - NH Ostrava 83-70

Very important is a road loss of third ranked NH Ostrava (18-11) against fifth ranked BK Decin (17-12) on Saturday night. Visiting NH Ostrava was defeated by BK Decin in Decin 83-70. They made 20-of-24 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was forward Jan Jiricek (203-90) who scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. American guard Patrick Pope (183-81, college: St.Augustine) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. Five BK Decin players scored in double figures. American point guard Rahsaan Ames (184-78, college: Shaw) produced 6 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Ludek Jurecka (199-83) added 11 points respectively for the guests. International Kamil Svrdlik (206-86, college: Fair Dickinson) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international guard Pavel Slezak (186-84) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Puerto Rican-American guard Emanuel Ubilla (188-86, college: Fair Dickinson, agency: Court Side) answered with 23 points and 5 rebounds and American guard Demarius Bolds (190-84, college: Missouri Western, agency: I.D.S. Law) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for BC Kolin. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. American point guard Michael Deloach (183-86, college: Norfolk St.) contributed with 8 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Slovenian point guard Matej Venta (188-84) answered with 27 points and 4 assists and center Jan Tomanec (205-85) added 23 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for BK Lions Hradec. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Basketbal Svitavy went down to sixth position (Group A2) due to points difference. Loser BK Lions Hradec dropped to the fifth place with 22 games lost. Basketbal Svitavy will have a break next round. BK Lions Hradec will play at home against BK Usti nad Labem (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

A very close game took place in Chomutov between BK Usti nad Labem and Levharti Chomutov. Seventh ranked BK Usti nad Labem (9-23) got a very close victory on the road over 3rd placed Levharti Chomutov (12-19). BK Usti nad Labem managed to escape with a 3-point win 96-93 on Wednesday evening. BK Usti nad Labem forced 21 Levharti Chomutov turnovers. Strangely Levharti Chomutov outrebounded BK Usti nad Labem 36-20 including a 28-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for BK Usti nad Labem especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. American guard Thaddeus McFadden (188-87, college: Fairmont St.) nailed 35 points (!!!) for the winning side and his fellow American import forward Brad Reese (199-88, college: Texas Tech) accounted for 20 points. Reese is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. BK Usti nad Labem's coach Peter Balint used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Ladislav Pecka (197-91) came up with 27 points and 5 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) and American point guard Showron Glover (180-87) added 12 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists respectively for Levharti Chomutov in the defeat. Five Levharti Chomutov players scored in double figures. BK Usti nad Labem maintains seventh place in Group A2 with 9-23 record. Loser Levharti Chomutov keeps the third position with 19 games lost. BK Usti nad Labem will meet higher ranked BK Lions Hradec (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
