NBL Round 8: BK Pardubice loses to BK Decin - Apr 4, 2013

There are only two more rounds left in the Second Stage in NBL.

The most important game in the last round took place in Decin between third ranked BK Pardubice (19-13) and sixth ranked BK Decin (18-14) on Wednesday night. BK Pardubice was defeated by BK Decin on the road 73-89. BK Decin outrebounded BK Pardubice 40-29 including 28 on the defensive glass. Swingman Lubos Stria (197-81) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Levell Sanders (189-75, college: Seton Hall, agency: Stanley International) contributed with 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. BK Decin's coach Pavel Budinsky used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center Travis Nelson (208-87, college: Minnesota St.) replied with 23 points and 9 rebounds for BK Pardubice. BK Decin moved-up to fifth place in Group A1, which they share with BC Kolin. BK Pardubice at the other side dropped to the fourth position with 13 games lost. They share it with NH Ostrava. BK Decin is looking forward to face league's second-placed BK Prostejov at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. BK Pardubice will play against NH Ostrava and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game for CEZ Nymburk (30-1) which played road game in Prostejov against second-ranked BK Prostejov (19-12). First ranked CEZ Nymburk had an easy win 96-71. CEZ Nymburk have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position in Group A1 with 30-1 record. BK Prostejov at the other side keeps the second place with 12 games lost. CEZ Nymburk will play against BC Kolin (#5) on the road in the next round. BK Prostejov will play against BK Decin and hopes to get back on the winning track.
An interesting game for USK Praha (17-19) which hosted in Praha 4th ranked Levharti Chomutov (13-23). Second ranked USK Praha managed to get a 12-point victory 86-74. The winners were led by Michal Sotnar who scored that evening 12 points and 8 assists. Even a double-double of 22 points and 13 rebounds by John Fields did not help to save the game for Levharti Chomutov. Levharti Chomutov's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. USK Praha maintains second position in Group A2 with 17-19 record having four points less than leader Levice. Loser Levharti Chomutov keeps the fourth place with 23 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
The game in Ostrava supposed to be also worth to mention about. One of their biggest challengers BC Kolin (18-14) played at the court of fifth ranked NH Ostrava (19-13). NH Ostrava did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 95-75. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of BC Kolin. The best player for the winners was Jeremiah Wilson who scored 26 points and 9 rebounds. NH Ostrava's coach Dusan Medvecky allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. NH Ostrava moved-up to third place in Group A1, which they share with BK Pardubice. BC Kolin at the other side dropped to the fifth position with 14 games lost. NH Ostrava's next round opponent will be BK Pardubice (#4) on the road. BC Kolin will play against the league's leader CEZ Nymburk.
The game in J.Hradec was also quite interesting. Third ranked B&W Opava (15-21) played at the court of 7th ranked BK Lions Hradec (10-26). B&W Opava managed to secure a 8-point victory 96-88 on Wednesday. Jakub Blazek orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds. BK Lions Hradec's coach tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. B&W Opava maintains third position in Group A2 with 15-21 record having six points less than leader Levice. BK Lions Hradec lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 26 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

In the last game of round 8
In Group A2 Svitavy was beaten by Usti n/Labem on the road 82-77.
The most impressive performance of 8th round was 31 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists by Matej Venta of J.Hradec.


Group A1
BK Prostejov - CEZ Nymburk 71-96

An interesting game for CEZ Nymburk (30-1) which played road game in Prostejov against second-ranked BK Prostejov (19-12). First ranked CEZ Nymburk had an easy win 96-71. CEZ Nymburk have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position in Group A1 with 30-1 record. BK Prostejov at the other side keeps the second place with 12 games lost. CEZ Nymburk will play against BC Kolin (#5) on the road in the next round. The game in Ostrava supposed to be also worth to mention about. One of their biggest challengers BC Kolin (18-14) played at the court of fifth ranked NH Ostrava (19-13). NH Ostrava made 23-of-25 charity shots (92.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 BC Kolin turnovers. The best player for the winners was American forward Jeremiah Wilson (203-88, college: Tarleton St.) who scored 26 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Ludek Jurecka (199-83) chipped in 21 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). NH Ostrava's coach Dusan Medvecky allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. B&W Opava managed to secure a 8-point victory 96-88 on Wednesday. B&W Opava made 31-of-40 free shots (77.5 percent) during the game. B&W Opava outrebounded BK Lions Hradec 42-31 including 29 on the defensive glass. BK Lions Hradec was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Jakub Blazek (203-80) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds. The former international guard Ladislav Sokolovsky (200-77) contributed with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Slovenian point guard Matej Venta (188-84) replied with 31 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and Jan Pavlik (186-78, agency: Court Side) added 20 points in the effort for BK Lions Hradec. An interesting game for USK Praha (17-19) which hosted in Praha 4th ranked Levharti Chomutov (13-23). Second ranked USK Praha managed to get a 12-point victory 86-74. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when USK Praha made 7 blocks. American-Polish forward Robert Lewandowski (208-89, college: Texas Tech) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 9 rebounds. American guard Thaddeus McFadden (188-87, college: Fairmont St.) contributed with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. American point guard Michael Deloach (183-86, college: Norfolk St.) replied with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and Polish center Pawel Mroz (215-84) added 16 points in the effort for Basketbal Svitavy. Basketbal Svitavy's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. BK Usti nad Labem moved-up to fifth place in Group A2, which they share with Svitavy.
