Here is the weekly review of the top performing Czech Republic players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is former international forward Jan Vesely (211-90, currently plays in NBA). He contributed to an easy victory against the Toronto Raptors (27-47) 109-92 in the NBA in Sunday night's game. Vesely scored 9 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 20 minutes on the court. The Washington Wizards have 28-46 record this season. This year Vesely averages: 2.7ppg, 2.6rpg, 2FGP: 49.0% and FT: 30.8% in the 42 games he played so far. He played for the Czech Republic senior national team three years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to an international point guard Tomas Satoransky (201-91, currently plays in Spain), who plays in the Spanish ACB. Satoransky could not help Cajasol (9-18) in their last game on Sunday. Despite his very good performance Cajasol was defeated 84-74 on the road by the leading Real Madrid. Satoransky was the second best scorer with 16 points. He also added 6 assists. Satoransky is currently fourth on the list of best passers. He has very reliable stats this season: 12.7ppg, 3.3rpg, 4.1apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 51.3%, 3FGP: 36.4% and FT: 77.5%. Satoransky is in the roster of the Czech Republic senior national team.

   #3. The Czech Republic player who performed third best last week abroad was former international center Jiri Hubalek (208-82, agency: Two Points, college: Iowa St., currently plays in Italy). He was the major contributor in an Umana Venezia's victory against the closely-ranked Vanoli Cremona (10-15) 80-74 in the Italian SerieA on Monday night. Hubalek recorded 15 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 29 minutes. Umana Reyer Venezia (13-12) is placed eighth in the SerieA. This year Hubalek's overall stats are: 3.8ppg, 2.6rpg, 2FGP: 66.7%(20-30), 3FGP: 14.3% and FT: 44.4% in the 13 games. He played for the Czech Republic national team four years ago.

   #4. An experienced small forward Lubos Barton (202-80, college: Valparaiso, currently plays in Germany), who plays in the German BBL was not able to help New Yorker Phantoms (11-17) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Barton's very good performance New Yorker Phantoms was badly defeated 102-83 in Hagen by the much higher-ranked Phoenix (#7). He recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and getting 10 rebounds. Barton also added 3 assists and 2 blocks. Barton's total stats this season are: 6.2ppg, 3.7rpg and 1.1apg. He is also Czech Republic national team player.

   #5. Former international center Ales Chan (216-80, agency: Edge Sports, college: Seton Hill, currently plays in Cyprus), who plays in the Cypriot Division A was not able to secure a victory for one of league's weakest teams Apoel (18-13) in their last game. Despite Chan's very good performance Apoel lost 70-78 in Larnaca to the higher-ranked (#3) AEK. He was the top scorer with 15 points. Chan also added 5 rebounds in a mere 17 minutes. This year Chan's total stats are: 7.5ppg and 3.8rpg in the 26 games. He used to play for the Czech Republic national team three years ago.

David Jelinek

   #6. Shooting guard David Jelinek (194-90, currently plays in Euroleague) managed to help Caja Laboral Vitoria in a victory against the closely-ranked Khimky (13-10) 86-82 in the Euroleague in Friday night's game. He recorded only 3 points in 8 minutes on the court. Caja Laboral Vitoria (11-12) is placed sixth in group F. Jelinek's team will play only one more game in the Euroleague Top 16. And that game will be critical. This year Jelinek averages just 4.0ppg in the three games. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Czech Republic National Team roster.

   #7. International center Ondrej Balvin (216-92, currently plays in Spain) is a teammate of previously mentioned Tomas Satoransky and both played together in the last Spanish ACB game. Balvin couldn't help Cajasol (9-18) in their game against Real Madrid (25-2). He scored only 4 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 17 minutes. Cajasol lost 74-84 in Madrid to the leading Real. Balvin has averaged so far 3.3ppg and 2.7rpg in the 23 games. He is also Czech Republic national team player.

Pavel Pumprla

   #8. Shooting guard Pavel Pumprla (198-86, currently plays in Spain) contributed to a 2-point Blusens Monbus' victory against the closely-ranked G.Canaria 2014 (15-12) 72-70 in the Spanish ACB in Saturday night's game. Pumprla scored only 1 points. Blusens Monbus Obradoiro CAB (14-13) is placed eighth in the ACB. Pumprla has averaged so far 7.0ppg, 3.0rpg, 1.2apg and 1.1spg. He plays currently for the Czech Republic national team.


The list of other players, who all have Czech Republic passport but never been selected to any of Czech Republic national teams:

   #1. Michal Kremen (200-G/F-81, currently plays in Cyprus), who plays in the Cypriot Division A could not help one of league's weakest teams one of league's weakest teams Apoel (18-13) to beat AEK (20-9). Kremen recorded 9 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. But Apoel was defeated 78-70 on the road by the higher-ranked AEK (#3). Kremen has averaged so far 7.0ppg, 4.5rpg, 1.7apg and 1.3spg.

   #2. Jaroslav Tyrna (207-F/C-86, college: New Orleans, currently plays in Germany), who plays in the German ProA (second division) was not able to help USC Leipzig (8-22) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Tyrna's very good performance the bottom-ranked USC Leipzig was defeated 102-96 in Crailsheim by the higher-ranked Merlins (#11). He recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 10 rebounds. The Regular Season already ended. It's Tyrna's first season with the team. Tyrna has averaged so far 7.3ppg, 6.0rpg and 1.1bpg.

   #3. David Steffel (212-C/F-85, currently plays in Romania) contributed to a 3-point Rovinari's victory against the closely-ranked Pitesti (13-17) 78-75 in the Romanian Liga Nationala last Thursday. Steffel scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 38 minutes. CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu (15-15) is placed ninth in the Liga Nationala. The Regular Season already ended. Steffel is ranked fourth on the list of the best rebounders in the league with 7.6rpg. This year he also averages: 12.0ppg and 1.4apg in the 30 games he played so far.

Turi Svitavy (NBL) landed power forward Kovar Lubos (202). He played most recently at the junior team of Loko Plzen in the 1Liga. The young forward is a bright star amongst the Czech junior ranks and will look to continue his development with Svitavy, while adding valuable experience in the KNBL. Lubos represented Czech Republic at the European Championships U16 Division B in Sofia (Bulgaria) last year. BK JIP Pardubice (NBL) agreed terms with 28-year old American forward Scott Martin (203-99kg-88, college: Notre Dame, agency: HMS). Martin has spent the past four seasons playing in the British BBL with Newcastle Eagles Esh Group. Last season he appeared in 37 games and had impressive averages of 16.0ppg, 6.3rpg, 2.1apg, 1.3spg and 1.1bpg while shooting 44.2% from the field and 39.8% from three-point range. Vendee Challans Basket (NM1) tabbed 27-year old American center Deshawn Painter (205-107kg-90, college: ODU). He played most recently at NH Ostrava in NBL league in Czech Republic. In 25 games he averaged 14.1ppg, 7.1rpg (#5 in the league) and 1.3apg last season. He can count that year as a very successful as was selected to Eurobasket.com Czech Rep.
