American forward Bonell Colas (205-F-82) had a great game in the last round for Randers, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 29. The 30-year old player had a double-double of 29 points and 16 rebounds, while his team beat Aarhus BC (#9, 6-20) 98-87. Randers maintains the 6th position in Danish Ligaen. Randers is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 12-14 record. Colas turned to be Randers' top player in his first season with the team. Former University of Florida star has very solid stats this year. Colas is league's best scorer averaging so far 25.6ppg and leads league in rebounds with 15.0rpg. Colas is in league's top in and averages impressive 2.2bpg and 65.4% FGP.
The second best player in last round's games was 25-year old Canadian Marvell Waithe (205-F-87) of league's second-best Bakken. Waithe had a very good evening with a double-double of 26 points and 11 rebounds. Bad luck as Bakken lost that game 90-95 to slightly higher-ranked Svendborg (#1, 22-4). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Bakken still maintains its place in the top 2 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team's 20-6 record is not bad at all. Waithe is one of the most experienced players at Bakken and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.
Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Anthony Jones (208-F-89) of Aalborg (#10). Jones scored 22 points and grabbed fourteen rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Aalborg, leading his team to a 84-83 win against slightly higher-ranked Horsholm (#8, 9-16). Aalborg can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 2-23 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Too bad for Jones he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Jones has a very solid season. In 10 games in Denmark he scored 17.9ppg. He also has 9.9rpg and 1.4bpg.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Justin Baker (203-F-89) of Vaerlose - 31 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists 5. Adama Darboe (190-G-86) of Svendborg - 25 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists 6. The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
