Denmark U16 clinch third position at Nordic Cup - May 17, 2013

Danish U16 National Team finished third at the annual Nordic Cup in Solna, Sweden. They earned three victories in five games played at the tournament.
Denmark lost to Finland 59:68 in the opener. The teams stayed close throughout the first quarter. The scoreboard read 34:33 for Denmark at halftime. But Finland went on a 13:3 run in the third quarter to pull ahead. Denmark reacted with a 19:10 rally in the fourth frame to force overtime. Finland held their opponents to 3 points in the extra period to seal the victory. Sandra Karsten (180-SG-97) notched 13 points for Finland. Nina Augustin (167-PG-97) chipped in 12 points for the winners. Sarah Mortensen (182-F-97) responded with 21 points for Denmark. Enna Pehadzic (176-G/F-97) delivered 16 points and 10 boards in the losing effort.
Next Denmark took on hosting Sweden. The Danish youngsters could not match their counterparts and surrendered 37:72. The Swedish team led by just one after the starting quarter 17:16. But they went on a 27:4 rally in the next period to open a 24-point lead at the interval. Sweden marched to the victory in the second half. Fanny Wadling produced 12 points and 8 boards for Sweden. Kristin Seman added 11 points in the win. Enna Pehadzic responded with 12 points and 8 boards for Denmark. Elizabeth Norregaard netted 9 points in the loss.
Denmark tasted their first victory in the third round. They bruised Norway 68:49. The Danish team jumped to a 28:15 lead after the opening quarter. Norway tried hard to level things up in the next periods but Denmark sit tight on the lead and snatched a 68:49 victory at the end. Sarah Mortensen had 20 points and 7 assists for Denmark. Enna Pehadzic had 10 points and 9 boards for the winning team. Andrea Raa answered with 10 points for Norway.
Denmark continued with winning ways next day. They rolled past Estonia 70:52 for the second victory. Estonia stuck around throughout the first quarter. They trailed by just 2 points after the opening quarter 16:18. Denmark stretched the lead to 8 points at halftime 28:36. The gap continue to grow in the second half as Denmark eventually got away with a comfortable win. Enna Pehadzic stepped up with 23 points and 8 boards for Denmark. Sarah Mortensen added 19 points and 11 boards for the winners. Kadri Uiga responded with 13 points and 10 boards for Estonia. Darja Dikalenko netted 10 points in the loss.
Finally Denmark survived a thriller against Iceland to escape with a 64:62 victory at the end. It was a tough battle. Iceland grabbed an 18:12 lead ten minutes into the game. But Denmark reacted with a 21:7 run in the second period to pull ahead. Iceland stayed aggressive in the second half cutting the deficit but Denmark hung on to escape with a narrow 64:62 win at the end. Enna Pehadzic came up with 22 points and 8 boards for Denmark. Sarah Mortensen delivered 20 points and impressive 21 boards. Eva Kristjansdottir (180-F-97) responded with 15 points and 15 boards for Iceland. Karen Vilhjalmsdottir dropped 12 points and 7 boards in the losing case.

Stevnsgade signs Katrine Fjaerestad, ex Gimle Pride - 4 days ago
Stevnsgade BBK (Dameligaen) signed 27-year old Norwegian international forward Katrine Fjaerestad (175-90). She has played for the last three seasons at Gimle Pride in Norwegian Kvinneligaen. In 18 games she had 6.3ppg, 5.8rpg, 2.5apg and 1.9spg in 2015-16 season. Fjaerestad helped them to make it to the semifinals. She won Czech Republic D2 championship title in 2011.
