Denmark U18 finish fifth at Nordic Cup - May 16, 2013

Danish U18 National Team took part at the traditional Nordic Cup tournament in Sweden. The Danes won two out five games and occupied the fifth overall position at the tourney.
Finland opened their campaign with a 53:46 victory over Denmark. Finland were down by two points after the first quarter but they picked up the tempo and surged ahead for a 31:26 halftime lead. Finland stretched the advantage to 15 points in the third quarter and sealed the victory at the end. Ulriikka Latvala (173-SG-95) netted 8 points, while Elli Koskinen (193-C-96) added 7 points for the winners. Kia Fisker (185-F/C-95) responded with 10 points for Denmark. Anemone Scheel (184-F-95) had 9 points in the loss.
Nest Denmark took on Sweden and suffered the second straight loss 49:60. Denmark trailed by just four points at halftime. Sweden however picked up the tempo in the second half and rolled to a 60:49 victory at the end. Emma Eriksson (163-PG-95) and Anna Lundqvist (176-G-96) finished with 13 points each for Sweden. Sarah Bersang (168-G-95) responded with 9 points for Denmark. Julie Ilsby netted 8 points in the loss.
Finland finally opened win count in the third game at the tournament. They fired past Norwegian counterparts 59:43. Norway looked slow in the first half trailing by 13 points at the interval. They tried to bounce back in the third term but Denmark went on a 17:7 run in the fourth frame to seal the win. Julie Hoier (185-F/G-95) posted 18 points to pace Denmark. Frederikke Mollerup (177-G/F-95) notched 13 points and 8 rebounds in the winning case. Maja Foeleide (181-PF-95) replied with 14 points and 11 rebounds for Norway.
Denmark shot down Estonia 80:62 in the fourth game in Solna. Denmark ran away for a 51:26 halftime lead and never looked back en route to the success. Anemone Scheel dropped game-high 29 points and collected 9 rebounds to lead Denmark. Mathilde Colding-Poulsen (178-SG-95) added 10 points for the winners. Trine Kasemagi (190-C-95) responded with 19 points for Estonia. Marie Roosalu (178-F-96) finished with 13 points.
Denmark capped their campaign with a 46:60 loss to Iceland. Lilja Juliusdottir (96) dropped 14 points to lead the charge. Marin Laufey Davidsdottir (172-G-94) netted 13 points and pulled down 13 rebounds for the winning side. Julie Ilsby (173-SG-95) replied with 11 points for Denmark. Hoier had 10 points in the losing case.

Sydnor re-signs at Horsholm - 19 days ago
Horsholm 79ers (Dameligaen) confirmed in their roster 24-year old American forward Maryah Sydnor (185-93, college: Appalachian State). She was a team leader there last season. In 26 Dameligaen games she had very impressive stats: 15.6ppg, 8.8rpg (#5 in the league), 1.5apg and 1.5spg (in top 5). Sydnor helped them to make it to the final after they ended regular season as second best team. Virum are crowned Dameligaen champions - 2 months ago
Virum celebrated the Dameligaen title. They overcame Horsholm in a dramatic fifth game of the championship series to capture the trophy. It was a seesaw action from start to finish. The 79ers stayed in charge throughout the first half. Horsholm led 14:12 ten minutes into the game. They extended the lead at 9-point mark at the interval 18:27.
