We bring you last week's top performances from Danes who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.
#1. This week's number one is U20 international forward Kevin Larsen (208-93, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA. He could not help the G.Washington (7-9) in their last game. Despite Larsen's very good performance the G.Washington lost 72-77 on the road to the University of Massachusetts.
He recorded 17 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 27 minutes on the court.
The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA.
It's Larsen's first season with the team.
Larsen is currently a member of the Danish U20 national team.
#2. Second place goes to former U20 international forward Jonathan Gilling (201-91, currently studies in the States), who plays in the NCAA. He was not able to help the Arizona St. (10-9) in their last game on Thursday. Despite Gilling's very good performance the Arizona St. was defeated 80-75 in Los Angeles, CA by the Univ.of Calif.at Los Angeles.
He recorded 17 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists.
Gilling's team will play only one more game in the NCAA Regular Season. And that game will be critical.
Gilling played for the Danish U20 national team in 2010.
#3. The Danish player who performed third best last week abroad was former international guard Chanan Colman (191-84, college: Chipola, currently plays in Israel). Colman managed to help Maccabi Bazan Haifa to win against the league outsider Ironi Ashkelon (5-16) 83-69 in the Israeli Winner League in Sunday night's game.
He scored only 3 points. It was his first game for Maccabi Haifa this season.
His team is placed second in the Winner League.
It was Maccabi's fifth consecutive victory in a row.
Colman's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial.
Colman has a dual citizenship: Danish and Israeli.
Former Roskilde BC starter played for the Danish national team five years ago.
#4. Guard Esben Reinholt (195-93, currently plays in Adriatic League) was not able to secure a victory for KK Split (8-17) in their game against Radnicki KG (16-9) in the Adriatic League. He did not have that impressive stats last Saturday.
Reinholt recorded only 2 points in 9 minutes on the court.
The bottom-ranked KK Split was badly defeated 81-63 at home by the much higher-ranked (#3) Radnicki KG.
His team will play only one more game in the Adriatic League Regular Season. And now that game is quite important.
Reinholt has been at the team for four years.
This season Reinholt averages: 1.9ppg and 1.2rpg in the 17 games he played so far.
He is also Danish U20 national team player.
#5. Former international guard Alan Voskuil (191-86, college: Texas Tech, currently plays in Turkey) couldn't help Olin Edirne (5-17) in their game against Anadolu Efes (18-4) in the Turkish TBL. Voskuil did not beat the league record on Sunday evening.
He recorded only 2 points.
Olin Edirne was edged 83-82 in Istanbul by the much higher-ranked Anadolu Efes (#4).
This season Voskuil averages just 2.2ppg.
He is a naturalized American.
Voskuil used to play for the Danish national team
four years ago.
He played also for Horsens IC in Danish league.
One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Danish passport:
#1.Tencho Tenchev (202-F-93, currently plays in Bulgaria), who plays in the Bulgarian NBL could not help the league outsider U20 (0-20) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the bottom-ranked U20 was badly defeated 93-74 on the road by the one of league's weakest teams (#9) Spartak Pleven.
Tenchev was the top scorer with 17 points. He also added 7 rebounds in 32 minutes.
So far U20 lost all twenty games in the Regular Season.
Tenchev has relatively good stats this year: 11.3ppg, 3.7rpg, 1.3apg and 1.2spg in the 19 games he played so far.
He has a dual citizenship: Danish and Bulgarian.
Despite Tenchev's Danish passport, he currently plays for the Bulgarian U20 national team and is not eligible to play for the Danish team.
