Estonia U18 finish second at Nordic Cup - May 16, 2013

Estonian U18 National Team participated at the Nordic Cup international tournament in Sweden. The Baltic team clinched the second position winning three out of five games played in Solna.
Estonia opened the tournament with a 68:53 victory over Iceland. The Baltic team used a 21:10 run in the third term to clear off for good. Marie Roosalu (178-F-96) stepped up with 17 points and 12 rebounds for Estonia. Kristi Tamp (173-PG-95) and Jane Svilberg (179-F-95) had 14 points each for the winners. Henningsdottir responded with 15 points and 11 rebounds for Iceland. Kristinardottir and Davidsdottir provided 10 points each in the loss.
Next Estonia faced Finnish counterparts. Estonia led comfortably by 9 points after three quarters of action. Finland came up with a furious comeback effort in the fourth frame and nearly stole the victory. But Estonia held on and escaped with a 42:40 success at the end. Kadri-Ann Lass (175-F-96) notched 17 points for Estonia. Trine Kasemagi (190-C-95) had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Elina Koskimies chipped in 7 points for Finland. Anni Jamsa provided 6 points in the losing case.
Linnea Rosendahl scored 15 points as Sweden overcame Estonia 66:57 in the next game. Rebecka Garderyd (170-PG-96) and Emma Eriksson (163-PG-95) netted 14 points each for the winning side. Sweden trailed by nine points after the opening quarter. However they used a 26:15 run in the second term to surge ahead. The Scandinavian team maintained the advantage throughout the second half and finished with victory. Trine Kasemagi responded with 17 points for Estonia. Kadri-Ann Lass and Jane Svilberg chipped in 15 points in the defeat.
The second straight loss at the tournament came in the hands of Danish counterparts 62:80. Denmark ran away for a 51:26 halftime lead and never looked back en route to the success. Anemone Scheel (184-F-95) dropped game-high 29 points and collected 9 rebounds to lead Denmark. Mathilde Colding-Poulsen (178-SG-95) added 10 points for the winners. Trine Kasemagi responded with 19 points for Estonia. Marie Roosalu finished with 13 points.
Finally Estonia took on Norway. Estonia clinched a 65:40 win in quite a one-sided encounter. Trine Kasemagi fired 21 points and pulled down 15 boards for Estonia. Jane Svilberg had 14 points and 10 boards for the winning team. Maja Foeleide (181-PF-95) responded with a double-double of 13 points and 13 boards.

TV Saarlouis Royals (DBBL) inked 25-year old Estonian international power forward Maaja Bratka (190-92, agency: LBM Management). She has played for the last two years at Pallacanestro Femminile Broni in Italian Serie A1. In 24 games she averaged 9.0ppg, 5.8rpg and 1.1spg last season. Among other achievements Bratka won Italian A2 championship title in 2016. She received also Eurobasket.com All-Italian A2 Center of the Year award in 2016.
