Frank Elegar claims Estonian KML weekly honour - Apr 1, 2013

Frank Elegar
U.S. Virgin Islands Frank Elegar (208-C-86) had a very impressive game in the last round for Kalev/Cramo and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 25.
The 26-year old center had a double-double of 14 points and sixteen rebounds, while his team beat TTU (#4, 14-12) 76-64. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Kalev/Cramo maintains the 3rd position in Estonian KML. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Kalev/Cramo will need more victories to improve their 17-5 record. It was one of impressive evenings for Elegar as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Drexel University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Elegar is in league's top in rebounds (3rd best: 8.6rpg) and averages solid 62.0% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 23-year old international center Rain Raadik (208-C-89) of Parnu. Raadik impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds. Bad luck as Parnu was edged by slightly higher-ranked Rapla (#5, 14-13) 63-61. Parnu is still second from the bottom in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 11-15 record. Raadik is a newcomer at Parnu and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was Edvard Trumm (192-F/C-83) of Hito/Johvi (#9). Trumm scored 11 points and grabbed eighteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Trumm's great performance Hito/Johvi lost 66-85 to the higher-ranked Kalev/Cramo (#3, 17-5). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Hito/Johvi can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 2-26 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Too bad for Trumm he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Trumm has individually a great season in Estonia. After 24 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.3rpg (4th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Rait Keerles (201-F-80) of Kalev/Cramo - 18 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Reimo Tamm (185-PG-84) of Tarvas - 21 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Bamba Fall (217-C-86) of Kalev/Cramo - 11 points and 6 rebounds
7. Egidijus Dimsa (205-C-85) of TU/Rock - 18 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Gary Wilkinson (205-F/C-82) of Kalev/Cramo - 17 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Justin Ingram (188-PG-85) of TU/Rock - 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
