MBK Ruzomb. - Nantes 51-56 Nantes Reze made a strong bid for EuroCup semifinal appearance. The French team outgunned MBK Ruzomberok on the road tonight in the first leg of the quarterfinal series. Yuliya Andreyeva (188-SF-83) came up with 16 points to pace the winning team. Nantes Reze trailed by the most part of the first quarter before Mircheva drained a three-pointer to give the visitors a 14:13 lead at the first break. Nantes Reze maintained the advantage throughout the second quarter. The visitors enjoyed a 32:28 halftime advantage. MBK Ruzomberok used a 6:0 run late in the third quarter to spur ahead for a 40:38 lead. However Isis Arrondo (166-PG-89) capped the period with a three-pointer to make it 43:42 in favour of Nantes. Yuliya Andreyeva and Isis Arrondo opened the fourth frame with back-to-back triples. But MBK Ruzomberok stayed hopeful cutting the deficit at 2-point mark 49:51. Isis Arrondo and Yuliya Andreyeva stepped up with five consecutive points and this time Nantes ran away for good. Isis Arrondo finished with 14 points, while Marielle Amant had 8 points for the winning team. Nadia Parker (191-C-87, college: USC) responded with 13 points for MBK Ruzomberok. Katarina Tetemondova nailed 10 points for the hosts.
Dynamo M. - Lattes Montp. 73-51 Dynamo Moscow are on the verge of reaching EuroCup semifinal stage following a comfortable home win over Lattes Montpellier. Kristi Toliver (170-PG-87, college: Maryland) dropped 18 points and issued 6 assists to lead Dynamo to a 22-point success at home court tonight. Dynamo led by just a single point after ten minutes of action 13:12. Robert put Montpellier in front 14:13 at the start of the second term. However Dynamo used a 13:0 run midway through the period to gain a 32:16 lead. Dynamo established a 35:20 halftime advantage. The margin grew at 18-point mark in the third term. Montpellier were able to cut the deficit at 14-point mark but Grishaeva, Kristi Toliver and Abrosimova sealed a confident 22-point victory for the home side. Crystal Langhorne (188-F/C-86, college: Maryland) finished with 16 points and 8 rebounds, while Tatiana Vidmer chipped in 13 points and pulled down 9 rebounds in the victory. Kayseri - Dynamo K. 101-86 Kayseri celebrated a home win over Dynamo Kursk in the first leg of the EuroCup quarterfinal series. Zoi Dimitrakou (188-F-87, agency: Josep and Nicolas) came up with 23 points to pace the Turkish team to a comfortable home win that gave them a safe cushion before the game in Kursk. The teams stayed close throughout the opening frame. The scoreboard read 23:23 after ten minutes of action. Dynamo Kursk pulled ahead in the second stanza. The Russian team fired 29 points in the period to establish a 52:45 halftime advantage. Kayseri however responded with their offensive excellence in the third term. The Turkish team dropped 31 points in the stanza and turned the deficit into a 2-point lead at the final break. Kayseri opened the fourth quarter on an 8:0 run to open a double-digit lead. Kayseri gradually extended the margin and secured what could be decisive 15-point lead heading into the second game. LaToya Sanders (191-PF-86, college: N.Carolina) finished with 22 points and 8 rebounds, while Evanthia Maltsi added 21 points for the hosts.
