Group I
Budivelnyk - Triumph 88-77
Budivelnyk went on a decisive run in the third quarter to pull from behind in the key clash with Triumph in EuroCup Top 16 Group I. Budivelnyk held on to the gained lead throughout the fourth quarter and posted a crucial victory to finish on top of the ladder. Budivelnyk will now face Spartak Saint Petersburg in the playoffs. Triumph slipped at 2-4 record and finished at the bottom of the standings. The teams went neck and neck throughout the first quarter. The scoreboard read 21:21 at the first intermission. The Russian team pulled ahead in the second frame. Triumph opened the period with 7 points in a row to spur ahead. They held on to the advantage to establish a 43:37 halftime advantage. Kyle Landry gave the visitors a 45:37 advantage early in the third term. However Budivelnyk capped the period on a 15:2 rally to head into the fourth frame up by 5 points 58:53. Sergey Karasev put Triumph within three early in the fourth frame but it was as close as the visitors could get. Budivelnyk stayed calm and raced to the victory at the end. Malcolm Delaney (191-G-89, college: Virginia Tech) netted 26 points and distributed 7 assists to lead the hosts. Michailis Anisimovas (214-C-84) added 16 points for the winners. Tywain McKee (188-PG-86, college: Coppin St.) answered with 17 points for Triumph. Sergey Karasev provided 15 points in the loss.

Buducnost - Banvit BK 66-50
Buducnost claimed a necessary victory over Banvit to secure the EuroCup quarterfinal appearance. The Montenegrin champions had to win by at least nine points to advance. They made sure no extra counting would be needed thumping the Turkish team in front of 2700 fans in Podgorica. Dee Bost (187-G-89, college: Mississippi St.) scored 16 points to pace the hosts but it was stifling defence that made difference in this one. Buducnost ensured a 17:14 lead ten minutes into the game. They held Banvit to 7 points in the second quarter to boost the gap. Buducnost enjoyed a 36:21 halftime lead. The hosts kept Banvit at bay in the third quarter. The visitors managed just 14 points to trail by 16 points at the final intermission. The margin grew at 20-point mark and Buducnost eased to the necessary victory at the end. Cedomir Vitkovac (201-F-82, agency: Beo Basket) and Milan Milosevic provided 11 points each for the home team. Kalin Lucas (185-PG-89, college: Michigan St.) answered with 12 points for Banvit. Charles Davis chipped in 8 points in the loss.

Group J
Gescrap BB - VEF Riga 76-65
Uxue Bilbao held off VEF Riga in the decisive game in EuroCup Top 16 Group J. The Spaniards clinched the top spot in the ladder after the victory. VEF Riga were left outside the next round of action with the loss. VEF Riga had to win in this one and they stormed into the game. The Latvian powerhouse enjoyed a 22:13 lead after ten minutes of action. But the Basque team reacted quickly. They organized a 24:14 run in the second frame to take a 37:36 halftime lead. VEF Riga stopped the rot in the third period. They ignited a 7:0 run and eventually entered the fourth frame up by two points 53:51. The teams were tied at 60 midway through the final period. But Bilbao capped the regulation on a 10:0 run to seal the crucial win. Alex Mumbru (202-F-79) and Raul Lopez (183-PG-80) scored 15 points apiece to pace Bilbao. Adrien Moerman (203-F/C-88) added 14 points and 9 rebounds for the hosts. Antanas Kavaliauskas (207-C-84, agency: Interperformances, college: Texas A&M) answered with 12 points and 8 rebounds for VEF Riga. Kaspars Berzins had 11 points and 8 rebounds in defeat.

Valencia - CEZ Nymburk 104-55
Valencia capped their EuroCup Top 16 campaign with victory. They knocked down Nymburk at home court in Group J. Valencia awaits now for the result of Bilbao versus VEF Riga game to know from which place in the pool they qualified. Pau Ribas (193-PG-87) nailed 20 points to lead the winners. Valencia dropped 29 points in the starting quarter to take a 7-point lead. Valencia thumped their opponents with a 26:10 run in the second frame. The Spaniards piled up a 23-point halftime lead. Valencia continued their onslaught with a 24:10 rally in the third period. Nymburk never recovered afterwards as Valencia coasted to the victory at the end. Vitor Faverani (211-C-88) netted 16 points, while Rafael Martinez added 12 points for the winning side. Michael Efevberha (197-G-84, college: CS Northridge) answered with 12 points for Nymburk. Tweety Carter chipped in 11 points in the loss.

Group K
Stelmet ZG - Lokomotiv 94-88
Stelmet Zielona Gora sweetened their overall unsuccessful EuroCup Top 16 campaign with victory in the last round. The Polish team held off visiting Lokomotiv Kuban behind game-high 29 points and 10 assists from Walter Hodge (183-PG-86, college: Florida). Stelmet occupied the third position in Group K behind Lokomotiv and Spartak SP. Lokomotiv finished at 5-1 record on top of the standings and would now take on Buducnost in playoffs. Lokomotiv fired 27 points in the starting quarter to build a 6-point lead. The visitors stayed on fire in the second frame to pile up a 48:38 advantage at halftime. Stelmet Zielona Gora narrowed the gap at 4-point mark at the final break 64:68. Cesnauskis put the hosts in front 69:68 early in the fourth period. Stelmet Zielona Gora opened an 88:83 lead late in the regulation and hung on to seal the win at the end. Dejan Borovnjak (207-F/C-86, agency: Beo Basket) notched 23 points and 12 boards, while Marcin Sroka added 13 points for the winners. Richard Hendrix (204-C/F-86, college: Alabama) answered with 20 points and 10 boards for Lokomotiv. Derrick Brown chipped in 19 points and grabbed 7 boards for the visitors.

Cajasol - Spartak SP 68-66
Cajasol finished their EuroCup Top 16 campaign on a high note. They held off Spartak Saint Petersburg in Seville. John Holland (195-G/F-88, college: Boston U.) scored 23 points to lead the winners as they finished in the fourth position in Group K. Spartak occupied the second position despite the loss and would face Budivelnyk in the quarterfinals. Spartak Saint Petersburg jumped to an early lead. The Russian team enjoyed a 17:9 advantage after the opening quarter. The margin grew in the second frame. Spartak accounted for a 35:21 halftime advantage. But Cajasol refused to surrender. The hosts ignited a 25:13 run in the third period to narrow the deficit at just 2-point mark with ten minutes remaining 46:48. Cajasol eventually surged ahead for a 66:64 lead. Kurbanov dunked for a 66:66 tie. Ondrej Balvin missed his attempt but Satorasnky tipped the ball in to seal the victory for Cajasol. Tomas Satoransky (201-PG-91) nailed 11 points, while Ondrej Balvin and Joan Sastre Morro had 9 points apiece for the winners. Loukas Mavrokefalidis (207-C-84) answered with 19 points for Spartak. Vladimir Dragicevic chipped in 14 points in the defeat.

Group L
Ratiopharm - Unics 77-79
Chuck Eidson (203-F-80, agency: Three Eye Sports, college: S.Carolina) nailed two late free throws to give Unics a road win over Ratiopharm Ulm in the final round of action at EuroCup Top 16. The victory meant the Kazan team clinched the top position in Group L. They will now take on Valencia in the quarterfinal series. Ulm finished second in the standings and would take on Uxue Bilbao in the next round. Ulm led by three points after the starting quarter 22:19. Unics slowed the hosts down in the second frame. The Russian team got within just two points at the interval 35:37. Ratiopharm Ulm limited their opponents to 14 points in the third term and opened a 7-point advantage with ten minutes to go. The hosts still led by seven points midway through the fourth frame but Unics ignited a 7:0 run to deny the deficit. The visitors eventually pulled ahead 77:75 within the final minute. Schwethelm however was able to sink two free throws with just two seconds remaining to make it 77:77. Unics handed the ball to Chuck Eidson for a buzzer-beater attempt but he got fouled in the process and calmly hit two from the line to seal the victory for Unics. Eidson finished with 24 points to lead the winners. Terrell Lyday (191-G-79, college: BYU) added 20 points for the visitors. Lance Jeter (190-G-88, college: Nebraska) responded with 18 points for Ratiopharm Ulm. Allan Ray notched 16 points in the loss.

Galatasaray - Crvena Zvezda 85-84
Galatasaray and Crvena Zvezda came up with quite an interesting battle in Istanbul tonight. Both team had to chances of qualifying to the next stage of the competition heading into the clash but performed well in front of supportive Turkish fans. Galatasaray managed to run away with a narrow victory at the end. Manuchar Markoishvili (196-SF-86) and Ender Arslan (190-PG-83) delivered 17 points each to pace the winners. Galatasaray jumped to quick start. The hosts dropped 27 points in the opening stanza to take a 7-point lead. The teams traded baskets throughout the second frame as Galatasaray remained in charge. The hosts ensured a 49:42 halftime advantage. Crvena Zvezda refused to surrender and put up a comeback rally in the third term. The Serbian side erased the deficit and put their noses in front for a 65:67 lead with ten minutes remaining. Boris Savovic (210-F-87, agency: Beo Basket) gave Crvena Zvezda a 7-point lead early in the fourth frame. But the hosts answered with six points in a row to stay close. Ender Arslan finally tied things up at 80 with under three minutes remaining. Jamont Gordon put the hosts in front with a three-pointer moments later. DeMarcus Nelson and Sertac Sanli (212-C-91, agency: Beo Basket) exchanged baskets and then Vuk Radivojevic nailed a jumper to put the visitors within one 84:85. But Boris Savovic and Vuk Radivojevic missed their attempts late in regulation and Galatasaray got away with a narrow win at the end. Sertac Sanli netted 16 points, while Jamont Gordon added 12 points for the winners. Boris Savovic answered with 20 points and 13 boards for Crvena Zvezda. Vuk Radivojevic chipped in 17 points and issued 8 assists in the loss.

Lokomotiv lands Dmitrii Kulagin - 3 days ago
Lokomotiv Kuban (VTB) tabbed 25-year old international swingman Dmitrii Kulagin (197-89kg-92, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov). He has played for the last two years at CSKA Moscow in the VTB. In 17 Euroleague games he averaged 3.9ppg, 1.5rpg and 1.2apg last season. Kulagin helped them to make it to the Euroleague Final Four. American Forward Luke Sikma (203-F-89) had an amazing evening in the last round for top-ranked ALBA, receiving a Player of the Week award for round 1. The 28-year old player was the main contributor (19 points, three rebounds and four assists) to his team's victory, helping them to outclass, the league's bottom-ranked team Partizan NIS (#6, 0-1) with 26-point margin 111-85.
