29-year old guard Earl Rowland (188-G-83) put on an amazing game in the last round for second-ranked VEF Riga and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 2 (Top 16). He had the game-high 30 points adding three rebounds for VEF Riga in his team's victory, helping them to crush Gescrap BB (#4, 0-2) with 23-point margin 99-76. VEF Riga is placed at 2nd position in Eurocup group J. VEF Riga is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. But it was their 1st lost game this season out of 2 games. In the team's last game Rowland had a remarkable 72.7% from 2-point range. He turned to be VEF Riga's top player in his first season with the team.
Second best performed player last round was Chuck Eidson (203-F-80, agency: Three Eye Sports) of Unics. He is American forward in his first season at Unics. In the last game Eidson recorded impressive double-double of 31 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Unics lost that game 87-95 to Ratiopharm (1-1). The Top 16 is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Eidson is a newcomer at Unics and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.
Third place about best performers goes to forward Leo Lyons (206-F-87, agency: Edge Sports) of league's leader Budivelnyk. Lyons scored 26 points and grabbed sixteen rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Budivelnyk, leading his team to a 85-84 win against #4 ranked Triumph in a game of the week. Budivelnyk has a very good start of the Top 16. But there were just 2 games played, so it's too early to judge them at this stage. Lyons also has a very good start of the Top 16 with very strong stats. Lyons has a great season in Eurocup. After only 8 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 7.6rpg (4th best). He also has FGP: 55.2% and 3PT: 42.3%.

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Last Saturday, the Slovak center scored 13 points (5/7) and grabbed 8 rebounds and 3 blocks.
His great mobility for a player his size and very effective shots allowed him to dominate last games in Belgium. When he combines those skills with his quickness, good hands and patience, Fusek can become one of the hardest big men to stop.
Fusek is also a great shot blocker, ranks first with 4 blocks per 40 min, due to his incredible height and decent timing.
Fusek averages 15.5 points and 12.25 rebounds per 40 min in Belgium
