BCM Gravelines Dunkerque Grand Littoral (ProA) landed 31-year old former French international forward Yakhouba Diawara (201-102kg-82, college: Pepperdine). He played most recently at Umana Reyer Venezia in Italian SerieA. In 33 games he averaged 13.1ppg, 4.8rpg, 1.4apg and 1.2spg last season.
The previous (11-12) season Diawara played at Cimberio Varese (SerieA) in Italy. In 36 games he had very impressive stats: 15.2ppg, 5.2rpg, 1.5apg and 1.4spg that season. It was a very successful year in his career as he was selected to Eurobasket.com All-Italian SerieA 1st Team.
In 2010-11 season Diawara played at Enel Brindisi (SerieA) in Italian league. In 30 games he had 13.6ppg, 4.5rpg, 1.1apg and 1.4spg.
In 2009-10 season he played at the Heat in NBA. But in 6 games he had just 0.8ppg. Diawara's team won Italian SerieA Regular Season in 2006.
He was also a member of French international program for some years. Diawara played for French Senior National Team between 2006 and 2012 and previously for U20 National Team back in 2002. He represented France at the Olympic Games in London (United Kingdon) last year. His stats at that event were 3 games: 3.3ppg, 1.0apg.
Diawara has played also professionally in NBA (Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat), Italy (Fortitudo Pallacanestro Bologna 103) and France (JDA Dijon).
He attended Pepperdine University until 2005 and it will be his ninth season in pro basketball.
Let's have closer look into Diawara's outlook: A very athletic player who can spend time in the two forward positions. Runs well the court, can grab rebounds at both sides oft he court and know how to defend. He's very versatile, but again a little green in various aspects of his game. His outside shooting has dramatically improved after that he arrived to Italy. It seems that he was wearing wrong contact lenses, and that the Italian doctors noticed this..
