Galatasaray - Good Angels 65-71
Good Angels surprise Galatasaray at the end of Day 1 in Ekaterinburg. The Slovakian side grabbed a 71:65 win for 1-0 record in Pool A. Galatasaray trailed by 19 points after 3 quarters before a 23-10 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 65-71 at the end of the game. Good Angels dominated on the defensive end, holding Galatasaray to just 6 points in second quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of Natasha Lacy who helped to win the game recording 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Allie Quigley (180-G-86, college: De Paul) contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Sylvia Fowles (198-C-85, college: LSU) answered with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and Isil Alben as well as Harding added 13 points in the effort for Galatasaray. Sancho Lyttle (192-C-83, college: Houston) led the way with 15 points. Tomorrow Galatasaray will take on CCC Polkowice at the end of the day. Good Angels Kosice will face UMMC in the third game of the day.

UMMC - CCC Polkowice 68-45
The hosts rout visiting CCC Polkowice in Day 1 of the EuroLeague Quarterfinal Stage. UMMC won 68:45 and extended their unbeaten home record. The game was mostly controlled by UMMC Ekaterinburg. CCC Polkowice was better in third quarter 17-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding CCC Polkowice to just 6 points in fourth quarter. Candace Parker (193-C-86, college: Tennessee) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Sandrine Gruda chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. Jekabsone-Zogota followed them with 11 points in a win. At the losing side Nigerian-American power forward Nnemkadi Ogwumike (189-F/C-90, college: Stanford) responded with 10 points and 9 rebounds and center Magdalena Leciejewska (191-C-86) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. Snell scored 8 and Palau added 7. Tomorrow Galatasaray will take on CCC Polkowice at the end of the day. Good Angels Kosice will face UMMC in the third game of the day.

Group B
Fenerbahce - Bourges 69-44
Fenerbahce needs a strong second half to start with the win at the Quarterfinal stage of EuroLeague. The Turkish team trailed in the first two periods, but then stormed past Bourges and reached a confident 68:44 win. Fenerbahce trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 41-13 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Fenerbahce dominated on the defensive end, holding Bourges to just 4 points in third quarter and to 13 points in second half. Fenerbahce dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Bourges' 32. Angel McCoughtry (187-SF-86, college: Louisville) nailed 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and Anastasiya Veremeenko (194-C-87) accounted for 11 points and 11 rebounds. Nwal-Endene Miyem (188-PF-88) came up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and Johannah Leedham (180-SF-87, college: Franklin Pierce) added 8 points respectively for Bourges in the defeat. Tomorrow Fenerbahce will take on Famila Schio in the second game of the day. Bourges Basket and Spartak Moscow Region will open Day 2 campaign.

Spartak V MR - Familia Schio 88-79
Lavender's 32 points are not enough against Spartak Moscow Region for Familia Schio. Jantel Lavender (190-C-88, college: Ohio St.) could not help her Italian team in a 79:88 loss. Spartak Moscow Region led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. The Russian team started with 21-20 lead and then added 25-23 in the second frame. Another 18-17 rally in the third quarter gave them 4-point advantage after 3 quarters, while the last 24-19 surge brought the final result on the board. Candice Dupree fired 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Seimone Augustus (183-SF-84, college: LSU) chipped in 18 points and 4 assists. Aguilar and Yacoubou-Dehoui followed them with 11 points each. Jantel Lavender produced a double-double by scoring 32 points and 10 rebounds and Giorgia Sottana (178-G-88, agency: Players Group) added 21 points and 10 assists respectively for lost side. Tomorrow Fenerbahce will take on Famila Schio in the second game of the day. Bourges Basket and Spartak Moscow Region will open Day 2 campaign.   



A mix of old and new clubs for upcoming EuroLeague Women season - 2 days ago
18 clubs have registered to compete in the 16-team 2017/18 EuroLeague Women season, as confirmed by FIBA Europe on Tuesday. 14 clubs will earn a direct position to the EuroLeague Women Regular Season, which is set to tip-off on October 11, whilst the other four teams will play one of the other three in home-and-away Qualifiers in late September   [read more]

UMMC Ekaterinburg (PBL) strengthened their roster with addition of 19-year old Russian international power forward Raisa Musina (191-98). She played last season at CCC Polkowice in Polish TBLK. In 32 games she recorded 9.0ppg, 5.3rpg and 1.0apg. Musina helped them to make it to the semifinals. She also played 12 games in Euroleague where she averaged 5.5ppg, 6.0rpg and 1.0apg. UMMC Ekaterinburg (PBL) tabbed 27-year old international forward Tatiana Petrushina (185-90). It is actually her comeback to UMMC Ekaterinburg as she has played here before. Petrushina played most recently at Nadezhda Orenburg in the PBL. In 26 games she averaged 7.6ppg, 2.7rpg, 1.5apg and 1.0spg last season. She helped them to make it to the semifinals.
