Papanikolaou
Kostas Papanikolaou (206-F-90) had a great game in the last round for league's second-best Olympiacos and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 14 (Top 16).
The 22-year old forward had a double-double of 21 points and twelve rebounds, while his team beat Khimky (#5, 7-7) 79-70. Olympiacos is placed at 2nd position in Euroleague group F. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier in Top 16. Olympiacos will need more victories to improve their 9-5 record. In the team's last game Papanikolaou had a remarkable six three-pointers out of 6 attempts. He has many years of experience at Olympiacos, through which he has constantly improved. Kostas Papanikolaou averages this season 9.4ppg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 27-year old Polish power forward Maciej Lampe (211-F/C-85) of Caja Laboral. Lampe impressed basketball fans with 27 points and 9 rebounds. Of course Caja Laboral cruised to a 76-64 relatively comfortable win over slightly lower-ranked Montepaschi (#6, 7-7). This victory allowed Caja Laboral to move up to 4th position in group F. His team's 8-6 record is not bad at all. Lampe is well-known by Caja Laboral fans and he already established his position as one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 14.4ppg (#5). He also registered 6.1 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was American James Augustine (208-F-84, agency: Priority Sports) of Khimky (#5). Augustine scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Despite Augustine's great performance Khimky lost 70-79 to the higher-ranked Olympiacos (#2, 9-5). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Khimky needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams in group F. Their record is 7 victories and 7 lost games. Augustine has a very solid season. In 22 games in Euroleague he scored 5.7ppg. He also has 4.7rpg and FGP: 61.3%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Daniel Ewing (191-G-83) of Besiktas - 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists
5. Ksistof Lavrinovic (210-C-79) of Zalgiris - 20 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Alejandro Abrines (198-F-93) of FCB Regal - 21 points and 3 rebounds
7. Rudy Fernandez (198-SF-85) of Real Madrid - 15 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Bobby Brown (188-PG-84) of Montepaschi - 24 points, 3 rebounds and 6 assists
9. Andrew James Ogilvy (211-C-88) of Brose Bask. - 13 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Damir Markota (209-F-85) of Besiktas - 16 points and 7 rebounds

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

The "Hoosier" Lucas Lecavicius.. - 19 hours ago
Panathinaikos found their own elf to add to their backcourt deep in the Baltic forest, expecting to bring some of the Lithuanian school magic at OAKA. Let's talk about the "Hoosier" Lucas Lecavicius.. Xavi Pascual seems to be close to us in terms of thinking and philosophy. I started this offseason thinking the names of Janis Strelnieks and Daniel Theis, envisioning a new, more 'European' Panathinaikos. The German big man signed with the Celtics, and the 'packaging' of the choice of Leca...   [read more]

The proposal takes into account the reality of basketball globally, and aims to find a broad understanding on a...   [read more]
