Group E
Unicaja - Panathinaikos 66-60
Unicaja clinched a tough home win over Panathinaikos. Marcus Williams (191-G-85, college: Connecticut) nailed 22 points to lead the Spanish side. Unicaja improved at 5-5 record, while the Athens team fell at 6-4 after the loss. Panathinaikos opened the game with their trademark stifling defence. The Hellenes limited Unicaja at 8 points in the opening quarter to eke out an 8-point lead. The visitors maintained the lead throughout the second quarter. Panathinaikos accumulated a 35:26 halftime lead. The teams traded baskets throughout the third quarter. Unicaja still trailed by nine points heading into the fourth frame 44:53. However Marcus Williams scored six points in a row to trigger an 8:0 run from the hosts at the start of the fourth frame. Diamantidis restored a 6-point lead for the visitors but Unicaja tied things up on a three-pointer from Marcus Williams with 2 minutes remaining. He followed with two more trebles to make it 66:60 for Unicaja as they claimed the winning outcome at the end. Luka Zoric (211-C-84) delivered 14 points and 9 rebounds, while Fran Vazquez added 13 points for the Malaga team. Jonas Maciulis (199-F/G-85) answered with 15 points for Panathinaikos. Roko-Leni Ukic had 14 points in the loss.

ALBA - Anadolu Efes 86-91
Anadolu Efes posted the 8th victory in EuroLeague Top 16. They stole a tough road success in Berlin tonight. Jordan Farmar (188-PG-86, college: UCLA) provided 23 points to lead the visitors. Anadolu Efes exploded with 28 points in the opening quarter to take a 4-point lead after ten minutes. ALBA stuck around in the second frame. The hosts trailed by four points at halftime 46:50. ALBA erased the deficit in the third term. DaShaun Wood (185-PG-85, college: Wright St.) and Djedovic drained back-to-back three-pointers to put ALBA in front 60:58. Idbihi and DaShaun Wood helped ALBA to a 64:58 advantage after several moments. But Anadolu Efes managed to level things up at 68 heading into the fourth stanza. Sinan Guler triggered a 7:0 run midway through the final term as the visitors posted a 77:70 advantage. ALBA refused to give up turning things around once again. The home team erased the deficit and snatched an 83:81 lead with just over two minutes remaining. Jordan Farmar answered with five consecutive points, while Semih Erden (211-F/C-86) added a layup as Anadolu Efes grabbed an 88:83 advantage. Kerem Tunceri and Jordan Farmar then sealed the winning outcome from the stripe. Semih Erden chipped in 12 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, while Kerem Tunceri and Sinan Guler had 10 points apiece in the win. DaShaun Wood answered with 24 points for ALBA. Zach Morley and Ali Traore had 12 points each in the loss.

Brose Bask. - CSKA 58-78
CSKA Moscow down Brose Baskets in Stechert Arena in EuroLeague Group E. The Russian team took 7-3 record after a road 78:58 win. Brose Baskets suffered their 10th consecutive loss. CSKA Moscow won the opening period 23-18 and posted all the victories later in the quarters. The Russian team added 23-17 rally for 11-point halftime advantage. CSKA Moscow scored 16 points in the third and the last quarters that was also enough for the narrow wins. Brose Baskets managed to post 12 points in the third quarter and ended up with 11 points at the end. Nenad Krstic (212-C-83) and Vladimir Micov (201-F-85, agency: Beo Basket) top-scored for the winners with 17 points each. Milos Teodosic (195-PG-87) nailed 16, while Sonny Weems added 11. Sharrod Ford (206-F/C-82, agency: Pro One Sports, college: Clemson) ended up with 16 points in the losing effort, while Matt Walsh had 13. Maik Zirbes brought 8 and Anton Gavel as well as Casey Jacobsen had 7 apiece.

Zalgiris - Real Madrid 104-105 OT
Real Madrid sneaked past Zalgiris in a first-class basketball thriller in Kaunas tonight. Nikola Mirotic (207-F/C-91) scored 31 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to pace Real to the ninth win in EuroLeague Top 16 Group E. Zalgiris started the game aggressively. The hosts erupted for 29 points in the opening quarter to take a 10-point lead. Kaukenas opened a 12-point lead early in the second quarter. The gap grew at 14-point mark midway through the second frame. However Real managed to trim the deficit at 4-point mark at the interval 40:44. The hosts opened the second half with 7 points in a row to take an 11-point lead. Real answered with a 16:2 rally to grab a 60:56 advantage. They entered the fourth quarter up by two points 63:61. Zalgiris quickly regained the lead in the fourth period and soon Mindaugas Kuzminskas gave the hosts a 77:70 lead. But Real stuck around. Nikola Mirotic pulled the Spanish team within two 81:83 with 12 seconds remaining in regulation. McGrath sank one of two free throw attempts and Sergio Rodriguez was put to the stripe. He drained the first one and missed the second one. However Nikola Mirotic grabbed a crucial offensive rebound and got fouled. He went deadly from the stripe to send the game into overtime. Jaycee Carroll (188-G-83, agency: Priority Sports) and Nikola Mirotic drilled three trebles in the extra period as Real made it 99:94. Sergio Rodriguez and Nikola Mirotic then scored six free throws in a row to keep Real out of trouble. Mindaugas Kuzminskas and Lavrinovic put the hosts within one in the dying seconds but Zalgiris simply ran out of time at the end. Jaycee Carroll produced 21 points, while Sergio Llull added 14 points for the winners. Tremmell Darden (194-G/F-81, college: Niagara) answered with 20 points for Zalgiris. Mindaugas Kuzminskas chipped in 16 points in the loss.

Group F
Besiktas - Caja Laboral 73-83
Caja Laboral clinched the fifth win in EuroLeague Top 16 Group F. They knocked down Besiktas in Istanbul to improve at 5-5 record. Besiktas remained winless at 0-10 record. Caja Laboral never trailed in this one. They jumped to an early lead and posted an 18:10 lead after ten minutes. The margin grew at 17-point mark at the start of the second quarter. Caja Laboral arrived at halftime up by 20 points 43:23. Besiktas opened the third quarter on a massive 20:2 run to narrow the gap at just 2-point mark. But Caja Laboral timely stopped the bleeding and opened an 8-point lead into the fourth frame 58:50. Caja Laboral quickly opened a double-digit lead in the fourth stanza and sealed the win at the end. Andres Nocioni (199-SF-79) accounted for 22 points, while Maciej Lampe (211-F/C-85) added 14 points and 6 boards for the winners. Gasper Vidmar (211-C/F-87) answered with 18 points for Besiktas. Ricky Minard had 14 points in the loss.

Fener.Ulker - Maccabi T-A 85-94
Maccabi Tel-Aviv celebrated the fifth win in EuroLeague Top 16 round. They claimed road win in Istanbul tonight. Ricky Hickman (189-PG-85, college: NC-Greensboro) stepped up with 18 points for the Israeli powerhouse. The teams stayed neck and neck throughout the first quarter. The scoreboard read 22:22 at the first break. However Maccabi stepped on the gas in the second frame. The Israeli team fired 27 points and cleared off to a 9-point lead at the interval 49:40. Maccabi opened a 13-point lead midway through the third term. Fenerbahce were able to cut it to 11-point mark heading into the fourth stanza 60:71. However the hosts never got closer than six points throughout the fourth frame and Maccabi coasted to the victory. Devin Smith (196-G/F-83, college: Virginia) chipped in 16 points, while David Logan added 15 points for the winning team. Bojan Bogdanovic answered with 26 points for Fenerbahce. Emir Preldzic accounted for 15 points in defeat.

Khimky - Montepaschi 78-71
BC Khimki reach the necessary win over Montepaschi Siena in the first game on Friday evening. The Russian side posted a 78:71 victory for 6-4 record. The Italian side dropped at 5-5 record in Group F. In the first game between two teams on January Bobby Brown (188-PG-84, college: CS Fullerton) scored 20 and Tomas Ress dominated in the paint when Siena bested Khimki 82:76 in Italy. This time Khimky secured a 7-point win as they started with 25-20 lead in the first period. The Russian team added 19-17 in the second frame and enjoyed a 7-point lead at the halftime. Moreover they won the third quarter 20-17 and later led 18 points. The Italian squad however dominated the end of the game and reduced to final 7 points. K.C. Rivers top-scored for the winners with 19 points and Paul Davis (211-C-84, college: Michigan St.) added 18. Kresimir Loncar and Vitaliy Fridzon followed them with 8 points apiece. Bobby Brown ended up with 17 points in the losing effort and Kristjan Kangur notched 12. Benjamin Ortner brought 11, whilst Matt Janning had 8.

Olympiacos - FCB Regal 77-90
Barcelona celebrated a confident road win in Piraeus tonight. The Catalan team overcame Olympiacos for 9-1 record on top of Group F. Erazem Lorbek notched 21 points to lead the visitors. The Reds slipped at 6-4 record after the defeat. Olympiacos eked out a 20:17 lead after a very close first quarter. The visitors used an 8:0 run midway through the second quarter to take a 39:30 lead. Juan Carlos Navarro (192-G-80) capped the first half with a layup as the Spanish team led by 10 points 46:36. However Olympiacos tuned in offensively in the third period. They went on a 9:1 run to narrow the deficit at just two points 47:49. Soon Vassilis Spanoulis (193-G-82, agency: Beo Basket) put the hosts in front 59:58. Pete Mickeal (199-F-78, college: Cincinnati) and Jawai capped the period with three points as the visitors sneaked in front 63:62. Pete Mickeal and Erazem Lorbek helped Barcelona to a 67:62 lead early in the fourth quarter. The visitors dominated in every facet of the game and posted an 82:71 lead midway through the quarter. Huertas and Jasikevicius opened a 16-point lead for the visitors and Barcelona never looked back again en route to the win. Pete Mickeal delivered 20 points, while Juan Carlos Navarro and Ante Tomic added 10 points each in the victory. Vassilis Spanoulis answered with 23 points for Olympiacos. Georgios Printezis had 16 points and 7 rebounds in the loss.  

Royce O'Neale (ex Gran Canaria) agreed terms at Zalgiris - 18 hours ago
B.C. Zalgiris Kaunas (LKL) to sign 24-year old American small forward Royce O'Neale (198-102kg-93, college: Baylor). He played most recently at Gran Canaria in Spanish Liga Endesa. In 35 games he averaged 7.5ppg, 5.0rpg and 2.1apg last season. O'Neale helped them to win the Supercup. He also played 16 games in Eurocup where he had 10.3ppg, 5.6rpg, 2.3apg and 1.1spg. Real Madrid (Liga Endesa) is in talks to sign 27-year old Serbian international center Ognjen Kuzmic (213-116kg-90) who played last time at Crvena Zvezda MTS Beograd in Serbia. He is a dual citizen owning also Bosnia and Herzegovina passport. He managed to play in three leagues last year. In 18 KLS games he had 9.1ppg and 4.4rpg (#5 in the league). Alberto Abalde signs at Valencia - 1 day ago
Defending champion Valencia Basket (Liga Endesa) landed 22-year old international swingman Alberto Abalde (202-95) from Joventut. Abalde has played there for the last four years. In 31 Liga Endesa games he averaged 10.1ppg, 3.5rpg and 1.8apg last season. Among other achievements his team made it to the Cup (Copa del Rey) Semifinals in 2015.
