Brose Bask. - ALBA 72-75
ALBA prevailed in the German derby in EuroLeague Top 16 Group E. They snatched a road win at the Stechert Arena in Bamberg. Deon Thompson (203-F-88, college: N.Carolina) nailed 15 points to lead the winning side. ALBA Berlin led by two points after the opening quarter 21:19. Brose Basket denied the deficit in the second quarter. The hosts tied things up at 42 at the interval. Brose Baskets pulled ahead midway through the third frame but Byars and Deon Thompson helped the visitors to a 59:58 lead into the fourth term. The teams went neck and neck throughout the final period. Schaffartzik gave ALBA a 75:72 lead with 6 seconds remaining. Anton Gavel then missed two free throws and ALBA ran away with a narrow victory. Ali Traore netted 14 points, while Je'Kel Foster (191-G-83, college: Ohio St.) provided 11 points in the winning case. Sharrod Ford responded with 16 points and 9 rebounds for Brose Baskets. Anton Gavel chipped in 14 points in defeat.

Unicaja - CSKA 66-70
CSKA celebrated a road win in EuroLeague Top 16 tonight. The Moscow powerhouse overcame Unicaja in Malaga for 9-3 record in Group E. Unicaja fell at 6-6 record after the defeat. Sasha Kaun scored 16 points for the winners. Unicaja led by a single point at the first break 17:16. The hosts stretched the lead in the second quarter. The Spaniards managed to pile up a 34:30 halftime lead. CSKA however turned things their way in the third quarter. The Russian team denied the deficit as the teams entered the fourth quarter tied at 52. Milos Teodosic (195-PG-87) put the visitors in front early in the final quarter but Marcus Williams quickly regained the lead for the hosts. Williams gave Unicaja a 60:54 advantage midway through the fourth stanza. CSKA anaswered with six points in a row to level things up. Milos Teodosic then sank back-to-back triples to give the Russian team a 66:62 lead. Sonny Weems (198-G/F-86, college: Arkansas) and Micov followed with layups to seal the win for CSKA. Sonny Weems and Milos Teodosic delivered 13 points apiece for the visitors. Marcus Williams posted 12 points for Unicaja. Krunoslav Simon, Zoran Dragic and Earl Calloway netted 10 points each in the loss.

Real Madrid - Panathinaikos 73-74
Panathinaikos stepped closer to the EuroLeague playoffs. They snatched a narrow road win in Madrid tonight. Kostas Tsartsaris (209-F-79) connected for 16 points as the Greens gained 8-4 record in Group E. Real slipped at 9-3 record but clinched the playoff spot despite the defeat. Panathinaikos relied on their trademark defence in this one. They held Real to 14 points in the opening frame and posted a 3-point lead. Panathinaikos boosted their advantage to 5 points at halftime 33:38. But Real opened the third quarter with five straight points to erase the deficit. The hosts dominated throughout the third quarter. They pulled ahead and rallied to a 53:49 lead with one period remaining. But the Greens managed to turn things around in the final frame. They capitalized on some key mistakes from the hosts in the period to spur in front. Sergio Llull (192-SG-87) came up with several crucial misses from the stripe, while Kostas Tsartsaris sank his attempts to bring Panathinaikos to the victory. Dimitris Diamantidis netted 14 points and issued 8 assists, while Roko-Leni Ukic added 12 points for the Hellenes. Nikola Mirotic and Rudy Fernandez (198-SF-85) answered with 17 points each for Real Madrid.

Zalgiris - Anadolu Efes 79-71
Zalgiris outgun Anadolu Efes in front of more than 11000 fans in the first game of Thursday action in EuroLeague. The Lithuanian team posted a 79:71 mostly due to the boost in the start of the third period. Both teams started strong and scored 52 points in the first period. Anadolu Efes managed to grab 27:25 lead, but then Zalgiris posted a 19-15 rally for 44:42 halftime advantage. The hosts erupted with a massive run early in the third period but saved 7 points after three quarters. They added 16-15 in the last stanza for the final success. Darjus Lavrinovic top-scored for the winners with 24 points and Mindaugas Kuzminskas (205-F-89) netted 15. Rimantas Kaukenas (192-SG-77, college: Seton Hall) delivered 9 points in a win. Jamon Lukas Gordon replied with 14 points in the losing effort, whilst Semih Erden (211-F/C-86) scored 13. Jordan Farmar notched 12 and Dusko Savanovic brought 11.

Group F
Khimky - Fener.Ulker 99-76
Khimky recorded the seventh win in EuroLeague Top 16 Group F. They outgunned Fenerbahce at home court to step closer to the playoffs. Petteri Koponen nailed 23 points to lead the winners. Fenerbahce snatched a narrow advantage after ten minutes 23:22. But Khimky took over in the second frame. The Russian team spurred ahead. The hosts accumulated a 49:37 halftime advantage. Fenerbahce cut the deficit in the third term. The Turkish team got within 9 points at the final intermission 61:70. However Khimky dropped 29 points in the fourth stanza and raced to a comfortable victory at the end. Sergey Monya (202-PF-83) netted 18 points, issued 6 assists and grabbed 4 boards, while Paul Davis had 14 points in the win. Bo McCalebb answered with 18 points and 7 assists for Fenerbahce. David Andersen (212-C-80) provided 14 points in the loss.

FCB Regal - Caja Laboral 83-74
Barcelona extended their EuroLeague Top 16 winning streak to 10 games tonight. They held off visiting Caja Laboral for 11-1 record atop of Group F. Erazem Lorbek netted 16 points to lead the hosts. Barcelona grabbed an 18:12 lead ten minutes into the game. The Catalan team extended the margin in the second quarter. Barcelona ensured a 42:32 halftime advantage. Maciej Lampe (211-F/C-85) and Causeur helped Caja Laboral ignite an 8:0 run as the visitors tied things up at 49. Maciej Lampe made it 53:52 for the Vitoria outfit soon. However Barcelona answered with a 9:0 run of their own to make it 61:56 with ten minutes remaining. Caja Laboral hang on for the bigger part of the final frame. They trailed by just two points 74:76 with under two minutes remaining. Barcelona answered with a 7:0 run that capped the regulation and sealed the win for the home team. Juan Carlos Navarro and Ante Tomic netted 14 points apiece for Barcelona. Maciej Lampe answered with 21 points for Caja Laboral. Andres Nocioni netted 11 points in the loss.

Besiktas - Montepaschi 72-70
Besiktas tastes the initial success in Top 16 and improved to 1-11 record in Group F. The Turkish team shocked visiting Montepaschi 72:70. Tutku Acik (194-G-80) brought the victory for the hosts a driving layup at the end of the game. Siena suffered its third consecutive loss, dropped to 7-5 and saw its playoff hopes take a hit. The hosts started with 18-16 rally in the first period, but the Italian team tied the game at the halftime. The latter grabbed 5-point lead after three quarters as they enjoyed 53:48 advantage. Besiktas however needed a 24-17 surge to win the game. The winners were led by guard Tutku Acik who scored that evening 17 points and 4 assists and Ricky Minard supported him with 14 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Even 19 points and 8 assists by Bobby Brown did not help to save the game for Montepaschi Siena. David Moss (196-F-83, agency: SportsTalent, college: Indiana St.) added 16 points, while Kangur brought 9.

Olympiacos - Maccabi T-A 67-73
Maccabi T-A steal the show from Peace and Friendship Stadium in Piraeus. The Israeli team grabbed a 73:67 win over Olympiacos and improved to 7-5 record. Olympiacos dropped at the same record but lowered their position. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Olympiacos won third quarter 26-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for David Logan who led his team to a victory with 20 points. Devin Smith contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Vassilis Spanoulis (193-G-82, agency: Beo Basket) replied with 19 points and 4 assists and Konstantinos Sloukas (197-G-90) added 7 points in the effort for Olympiacos. Olympiacos will face next Fener.Ulker, while Maccabi T-A will host Besiktas.

Valencia - Anadolu Efes 78-71 Valencia Basket used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Istanbul 78-71 on Friday night. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Valencia Basket made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. 26-year old point guard Pierre Jackson (180-PG-91) had an amazing evening in the last round for Maccabi T-A and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 1. He had the game-high 27 points adding seven rebounds and nine assists for Maccabi T-A in his team's victory, helping them to crush Brose Bask. (#14, 0-1) with 17-point margin 88-71.
