Panathinaikos - Anadolu Efes 75-62
Panathinaikos celebrated the sixth victory in the EuroLeague Top 16 campaign. They knocked down Anadolu Efes in Athens to share the third/fourth position in Group E with CSKA. Roko-Leni Ukic (196-PG-84) and Dimitris Diamantidis (196-G-80) delivered 13 points each to lead the Greek side. Anadolu Efes looked determined and confident in the opening quarter. The Turkish side grabbed a 21:19 lead after ten minutes. However Panathinaikos quickly denied the deficit. The Hellenes stiffened defensively and levelled things up at 38 at the interval. Panathinaikos stayed aggressive defensively in the third term. Roko-Leni Ukic and Dimitris Diamantidis gave the hosts a 56:48 lead midway through the period. Panathinaikos entered the fourth frame up by 5 points 56:51. The visitors opened the final frame with five points in a row to deny the deficit. However Panathinaikos answered with a stunning 16:0 run to clear off for good. Sofoklis Schortsanitis and Michael Bramos produced 11 points each for the home team. Dusko Savanovic (204-PF-83, agency: Beo Basket) answered with game-high 21 points for Anadolu Efes. Jordan Farmar netted 10 points in the loss.

Unicaja - Zalgiris 67-83
Zalgiris Kaunas upset Unicaja in Malaga for 4-5 record in Group F. The Lithuanian team tied both records after a road 83:67 win. Unicaja started with 19-16 lead in the first period but failed to win the first half. The Lithuanian squad bounced back with 22-12 and grabbed 38:31 halftime advantage. It was again the home side to win the third period 15-11 and to reduce to the minimum. Zalgiris Kaunas however erupted with 24-11 and took the important win. Mindaugas Kuzminskas (205-F-89) poured in 15 points and Oliver Lafayette (188-G-84, college: Houston) added 14. Tremmell Darden followed them with 9 points, whilst Marko Popovic and Ksistof Lavrinovic notched 8 each. Krunoslav Simon (197-G/F-85, agency: Beo Basket) ended up with 13 points and Luka Zoric posted 12. Sergi Vidal ended up with 9 and Fran Vazquez delivered 8.

CSKA - ALBA 80-65
CSKA bounced back from the loss in the previous round of EuroLeague Top 16 to knock down Alba in the Russian capital. Nenad Krstic (212-C-83) provided 20 points to lead the winners as they improved at 6-3 record in Group E. Alba fell at 1-8 record after the defeat. Alba jumped to a 7:3 lead early in the game and maintained it for some time. However CSKA capped the first period with five points in a row to take a 20:16 lead. CSKA opened the second quarter on a 12:0 run to build a 32:16 advantage. The hosts kept Alba at bay throughout the rest of the half posting a 44:33 lead at the interval. Foster and Nihad Djedovic dragged Alba within 7 points midway through the third term 50:57. CSKA were able to enter the fourth frame up by 9 points 63:54. Sonny Weems and Papaloukas gave the hosts an 11-point cushion early in the fourth period. But DaShaun Wood (185-PG-85, college: Wright St.) and Byars answered with back-to-back three-pointers as Alba trimmed the deficit at 5-point mark 65:70. Nenad Krstic scored four straight points to trigger a 10:0 run from the hosts that closed the game. Sonny Weems and Votontsevich delivered 10 points each for the winners. DaShaun Wood answered with 11 points for Alba. Zach Morley, Deon Thompson and Nihad Djedovic added 10 points apiece in the loss.

Real Madrid - Brose Bask. 76-73
Real Madrid escape with the narrow win over Brose Baskets Bamberg. The Spanish team trailed for the majority of the game but needed 19-13 rally in the last stanza to win 76:73. Real Madrid actually won the first period 21-20, but allowed the guests to take control at the end of the half. Brose Baskets Bamberg posted 21-18 in the second frame and grabbed 41:39 halftime advantage. Moreover the German team won the third period 19-18 and led 7 points midway through the last stanza. Jaycee Carroll (188-G-83, agency: Priority Sports) tied the game first at 64:64 and then Felipe Reyes closed the run at 70:64. Although Maik Zirbes tied the game later for the guests at 73:73, Dontaye Draper nailed three for the home side to celebrate a tough 76:73 win. Jaycee Carroll top-scored for the winners with 11 points, while Nikola Mirotic and Rudy Fernandez added 9 each. Rafael Hettsheimer and Mirza Begic (217-C-85) followed them with 8 points each. Anton Gavel (188-PG-84, agency: Pro One Sports) answered with 15 points in the losing case and Maik Zirbes had 14. Jeremiah Massey brought 11, while Matt Walsh had 10.

Group F
Besiktas - Olympiacos 60-79
Olympiacos Piraeus successfully starts Round 9 in Istanbul as they rout Besiktas JK for 6-3 record. The Greek side won 79:60 in the opener of Thursday. Besiktas JK fell at 0-9 record in Group F. Besiktas JK had nothing to lose in the game and started better. The Turkish team posted a 15-13 rally in the first period, but could not match the opponents in the rest of the game. Olympiacos Piraeus replied with 25-15 in the second period and never looked behind after. Moreover the guests produced 22-21 in the third quarter and added 19-9 in the last stanza. Josh Powell (206-F-83, college: N.Carolina St.) top-scored for the winners with 16 points and Kostas Papanikolaou (206-F-90) added 11. Vassilis Spanoulis and Georgios Printezis delivered 9 points each in a win. Gasper Vidmar (211-C/F-87) and Patrick Christopher replied with 13 points in the losing effort. Randal Falker and Ricky Minard followed them with 11 points each.

Montepaschi - Fener.Ulker 87-69
Montepaschi eased past Fenerbahce in Siena tonight. The victory propelled the Italian champions at 7-2 record in Group F. Aleksandar Rasic (195-PG-84, agency: Beo Basket) led well-balanced effort with 16 points for the hosts. Montepaschi led by just three points after ten minutes of action 21:18. However the hosts erupted for 28 points in the second frame to clear off. The Siena outfit established a comfortable 49:35 halftime advantage. Fenerbahce stopped the rot in the third term. The Turkish team adjusted their defence and limited Siena to 16 points in the period. Fenerbahce were able to get within 12 points at the final intermission. Montepaschi regained composure in the final quarter and raced to a confident win at the end. Daniel Hackett (200-PG-87, agency: Two Points, college: USC) netted 13 points, while David Moss and Bobby Brown contributed 12 points each for the winners. Bojan Bogdanovic (203-SG-89) answered with 22 points for Fenerbahce. Bo McCalebb netted 10 points in the loss.

Caja Laboral - Maccabi T-A 62-66
Maccabi Electra stole a show from Fernando Buesa Arena. The Israeli team revenged for 1-point loss at home on January 3rd when the Spanish team won 71:70. Tonight Maccabi Electra celebrated a 66:62 win for 4-5 record. Caja Laboral Vitoria also dropped at the same record on the fifth place. It was a slow start when the guests grabbed 11-10 lead. Caja Laboral Vitoria replied with 21-17 rally in the second frame and took 3-point advantage at the halftime. Caja Laboral Vitoria also won the third frame 16-15 but could not win the game. Maccabi Electra erupted with 23-15 surge in the last stanza for the final result. Devin Smith (196-G/F-83, college: Virginia) top-scored for the winners with 20 points and David Logan (185-G-82, college: Indianapolis) added 16. Shawn James brought 11, while Ricky Hickman delivered 10. Maciej Lampe finished the game with 19 points for the home side and Fernando San Emeterio scored 11. Thomas Heurtel posted 9, whilst Fabien Causeur netted 6.

FCB Regal - Khimky 71-69
FC Barcelona Regal celebrated the eighth victory in the EuroLeague Top 16. They held off ambitious Khimky in the Catalan capital for 8-1 record on top of Group F. Juan Carlos Navarro (192-G-80) stepped up with 19 points to lead the hosts. Khimky fell at 5-4 record in the fourth position in the ladder. Barcelona enjoyed a 21:16 lead ten minutes into the game. They stayed aggressive offensively throughout the second period. The hosts piled up a 44:34 halftime advantage. Barcelona kept their opponents at safe distance throughout the third term. They established a 12-point lead heading into the fourth stanza. But Khimky refused to give up. Loncar trigged an 8:0 run from Khimky as they narrowed the deficit at 4-point mark midway through the final frame. Monya cut the deficit to 3 points but Barcelona did not allow the visitors any closer. Juan Carlos Navarro scored six points and the home team coasted to the win at the end. Ante Tomic (217-C-87) delivered 16 points, while Erazem Lorbek added 11 points for the winning side. Paul Davis (211-C-84, college: Michigan St.) answered with 18 points and 9 rebounds for Khimky. Zoran Planinic and Vitaliy Fridzon chipped in 12 points each in the loss.
