Jankovic
Head coach of Greece national team, Andrea Trinchieri, decided to cut small forward Vladimir Jankovic (202-F-90). Italian coach explained his decision: "Final choices are question of team chemistry. Vlado Jankovic could have been until the end with the team, he worked exceptionally well in training camp and helped us very much. He played at four different positons to help the team, from the '1' to the '4' spot, according to circumstances." It means that new Panathinaikos player will not make his debut for senior national team at EuroBasket.
15 remaining players in Greek training camp are: Vassilis Spanoulis (193-G-82), Nikolaos Zisis (197-G-83), Dimitrios Katsivelis (196-G-91), Konstantinos Sloukas (197-G-90), Michael Bramos (197-G/F-87, college: Miami, OH), Kostas Vasiliadis (200-G/F-84), Kostas Papanikolaou (206-F-90), Stratos Perperoglou (203-F-84), Georgios Printezis (206-F-85), Antonis Fotsis (209-F-81), Kostas Kaimakoglou (206-C/F-83), Ian Vougioukas (212-C/F-85, college: St.Louis), Loukas Mavrokefalidis (207-C-84), Ioannis Bourousis (213-C-83) and Vasileios Kavvadas (204-F-91).

Spain will once again find themselves as heavy favourites in the upcoming EuroBasket 2017 (31st August - 17th September). It is, of course, no surprise that the Spanish are widely tipped to win again this year, having won three of the last four EuroBasket Gold Medals. In fact, Spain have finished in the medal positions in the last five tournaments and have not finished any lower than 6th overall in the last 40 years. Put simply, the Spanish have been consistently excellent in the competit...   [read more]

Llull out of action for seven to nine months - 8 days ago
The worst case scenario was confirmed in the first morning hours for Sergio Llull (190-PG-87). The Spanish basketball federation announced that the player suffered a torn ACL. The really bad news however is that Llull will need at least seven to nine months in order to return back to action after what happened in the preparation game of Spain against Belgium. The press release of the federation is the following. Following the tests carried out on Sergio Llull in the Hospital Quiron Salud,...   [read more]
Spain started EuroBasket preparations - 20 days ago
The 16 players chosen by Spain's national team head coach, Sergio Scariolo, are in Madrid, where they started training camp ahead of upcoming EuroBasket 2017. La Roja will defend gold medal won in 2015. Spain will practice for 10 days before playing their first friendly game. Reigning European champions will play 5 out of 7 games at home territory, before travelling to Belgium and Lithuania.
