Austria - FYR Macedonia 68-63
Austria is the winner of 2012 European Championship for Small Countries (Division C). They outplayed hosts FYROM 68-63 to take the Gold medal at this event. This is the fourth title for Austria in this competition. Verena Bachler (175-G-88) and Nina Suritsch (189-F/C-84) led the winners with 12 points each. Sophia Plank (178-G/F-83) secured a nice help with 11 points and 6 assists. In the loosing squad, Elena Radenkovic (186-C/F-84, agency: Global Sports Plaza) collected 20 points and 8 rebounds. Monika Gavriloska (190-F/C-76, agency: Global Sports Plaza) had double-double of 18 points and 13 rebs, while Slavica Dimovska (175-G-85) added 12 points and 6 assists. FYROM won the Silver, but they for sure hoped to grab the title at the tournament in Ohrid. It was a very exciting game today as teams were tied at 63-63 with 2:34 to go. Schicher made one free throw for Austria and soon after that Podoschek added two more. The hosts desperately tried to score, but were not able to do it and Podoschek sealed the victory for Austria with two more successful shots from the line. Quarters: 28-16, 12-23, 17-10, 11-14. Malta won the Bronze in Ohrid. They arrived as defending champions.

Places 3-4
Malta - Scotland 72-52
Malta won the Bronze at 2012 European Championship for Small Countries (Division C). They blasted Scotland 72-52 in the battle for third place. Malta was the winner of previous two Gold medals. Stephanie De Martino (184-F-93) led them on Sunday with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Rebecca Thoresen (178-F/G-78) scored 18 pts and she was named MVP of the tournament. Third scorer in victory was Christina Grima (175-G/F-89) with 12 points (5 rebs). In Scotland, Rona Corkindale (177-F-86) (7 rebs) and Deanne Hayward (170-G-91) delivered 12 points each. Gillian Baird (182-F-88) netted 9 points. Malta exploded after the breather to secure the comfortable win in this meeting. Quarters: 14-10, 14-14, 25-12, 19-16. Austria won the Gold in Ohrid, while hosts FYROM ended with Silver.
Places 5-6
Gibraltar - Wales 65-61
Gibraltar won the fifth place at 2012 European Championship for Small Countries (Division C). They outsmarted Wales 65-64 in the last day of the competition in Ohrid. This is a nice success for Gibraltar NT, who failed all three times in the Preliminary Round, but finished the EuroBasket with two wins. They made 12-point lead until the halftime against Wales and jumped to plus 15 with 10 minutes to go. Wales didn't give up making 57-58 turn in the finish, but Gibraltar closed this game with 8-3 run to take the fifth place in Ohrid. Zainya Reyes (173-SG-92) stepped up for the winners with 16 points and Joelle Moreno (165-G/F-88) followed with 14 pts, plus 5 assists. Alexandra Mauro (165-PG-91) posted 10 points. In defeat, Danielle Jennings (173-G-84) delivered 17 points. Joanne Raper (186-C-84) (12 rebs) and Amelia Reynolds (176-G/F-91) (7 rebs) posted 13 pts each. Austria won the Gold in Ohrid. FYROM ended as No.2, while defending champion Malta took the Bronze this time.

Places 7-8
Azerbaijan - Moldova 68-45
Azerbaijan avoided last place at 2012 European Championship for Small Countries (Division C). They cruised past Moldova 68-45 in the last day of the competition in Ohrid. Azerbaijan shined at the beginning of the second half to take the comfortable win in this game. Quarters: 22-15, 10-11, 26-10, 10-9. Anastasiya Biryuchkova (170-G-90) led the winners in scoring with 27 points. Dina Ulyanova (185-SF-89) was the MVP of this meeting with valuation 37. She had 22 points and 14 rebounds. In Moldova, Galina Cuznetov (193-C-89) (12 rebs) and Diana Sokolov (170-PG-88) (5 rebs) netted 8 points each. Austria won the Gold in Ohrid. FYROM finished as No.2, while third place belonged to defending champs Malta.

Alex Bentley to play for Belarus National Team - 22 days ago
Alex Bentley(170-PG-90, college: Tarbes) will play for the Belarus National Team and will get the passport from the country. The 27-year old point guard currently plays Adana ASKI Mersin in Turkey. In 22 KBSL games she had very impressive stats: 17.2ppg, 3.9rpg, 3.8apg and 1.5spg this season. Bentley also played earlier that season for KEB Hanabank in South Korean WKBL where in only one KBSL game she recorded 13 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Stevan Karadzic will take over the Serbian National Team. He will replace Marina Maljkovic (agency: BeoBasket ) at helm. Stevan Karadzic has most recently worked with Enisey Krasnoyarsk. Previously he guided Hemofarm and Crvena Zvezda. Stevan Karadzic used to work with Serbian U20 and U21 National Teams. He was named All-EuroCup Co-Coach of the Year back in 2009.   [read more]

Roberto Iniguez to lead Montenegrin National Team - 3 months ago
Roberto Iniguez has taken over the Montenegrin National Team. The Spanish specialist will replace Momir Milatovic at helm. Roberto Iniguez will steer Montenegro at the European Championship in 2017. Montenegro will face Latvia, Belgium and Russia in Group D. Roberto Iniguez has been guiding Nadezhda Orenburg since 2015. Previously he worked with Valencia and Fenerbahce.
