Korisliiga, round 43: Kataja (Joensuu) defeated KTP (Kotka) tonight after 13 lead changes and four ties 81-74 (40-39). Kataja (33-8) has now won five games in a row and 18 games at home court! Kataja is 20-1 in Joensuu and 13-7 on the road. Jonte Flowers (196-F/G-85, agency: Warren Sports International, college: Winona St.) led again Kataja with 20 points, nine rebounds and three blocks. Daniel Coleman (206-F-85, college: Minnesota) added 14 pts. Marcus Faison (196-G-78, college: Siena) hit 5/6 from the distance and was KTP (31-12) leading scorer with 19 pts.
Pyrinto (Tampere) crushed FoKoPo (Forssa) 113-78 (48-30). Pyrinto had six players in double digits. Carl Lindbom (206-F-91) made a double-double 29pts/11rbs. Osku Heinonen (194-G/F-92) added 24 pts. Andrais Thornton (203-F-85, college: NW Missouri St.) led FoKoPo with 30pts/8rbs. FoKoPo is moving down to Division 1 A, but we will never know how things could have been, if FoKoPo had three American players like all the other teams.
Vilpas (Salo) was winning over UU-Korihait (Uusikaupunki) 67-59 (30-27). Vilpas (14-29) may be the last team to make the play-off-games? Marcus Relphorde (198-F-88, college: Colorado) and Shawn Atupem (200-F-89, college: Mt.St.Mary's) netted both 23 pts. T.J. Robinson (203-F-89, agency: Global Sports Plaza, college: Long Beach St.) led UU-Korihait (13-30) with a double-double 25pts/12rbs.
