Here is the weekly review of the top performing Finnish players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international point guard Petteri Koponen (194-88, currently plays in Russia), who plays in the Russian PBL. He could not help Khimky (8-4) in their last game. Despite Koponen's very good performance Khimky lost 82-97 at home to the lower-ranked (#6) BC Nizhny Novgorod. He was the second best scorer with 15 points. Koponen also added 3 steals in 26 minutes on the court. This year Koponen averages: 7.1ppg, 1.6rpg, 2.3apg, 3FGP: 38.9% and FT: 87.5% in the seven games he played so far. He is currently a member of the Finnish senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international guard Sasu Salin (192-91, currently plays in Adriatic League), who plays in Slovenia. Salin was not able to help Un.Olimpija (13-12) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance Un.Olimpija was edged in an overtime 85-82 on their home court in Ljubljana by the lower-ranked HKK Siroki WWin (#11). Salin recorded 10 points. His team will play only one more game in the Adriatic League Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Salin belongs to league's most steals and is ranked #4. His overall stats this season are: 7.6ppg, 3.3rpg, 1.7spg, 2FGP: 46.3%, 3FGP: 33.0% and FT: 70.6%. Salin is in the roster of the Finnish senior national team.

   #3. The Finnish player who performed third best last week abroad was an international small forward Shawn Huff (198-84, college: Valparaiso, currently plays in Italy). He led Upea CdO to a victory over one of league's weakest teams Fileni BPA Jesi (8-13) crushing them 116-91 in the Italian Lega2 (second division) on Sunday night. Huff was MVP of the game. He recorded 25 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 31 minutes. It was his first game for Upea CdO this season. His team is placed 11th in the Lega2. Huff is also a member of the Finnish senior national team.

   #4. An experienced point guard Teemu Rannikko (189-80, currently plays in Adriatic League) is a teammate of previously mentioned Sasu Salin and both played together in the last Adriatic League game. Rannikko was not able to secure a victory for Un.Olimpija (13-12) in their game against HKK Siroki WWin (9-16). He recorded 5 points and added 4 assists. Un.Olimpija was edged in an overtime 85-82 on their home court in Ljubljana by the lower-ranked HKK Siroki WWin (#11). Rannikko's overall stats this season are: 6.8ppg, 1.1rpg and 3.2apg. He is also Finnish national team player.

   #5. International center Gerald Lee (208-87, college: ODU, currently plays in Eurocup) couldn't help Buducnost (3-3) in their game against Lokomotiv (5-1) in the Eurocup. Lee scored 8 points in 24 minutes. The second-placed Buducnost was crushed 90-65 on the road by the leading Lokomotiv in the group I of Eurocup. It's Lee's first season with the team. This year his overall stats are: 8.8ppg and 3.4rpg in the 14 games. Lee is a naturalized American. He plays currently for the Finnish national team. Strangely Lee has never played in Finland.

   #6. Forward Ville Kaunisto (205-82, currently plays in France) was the major contributor in Blois' victory against the closely-ranked La Rochelle (13-11) 92-76 in the French NM1 (third division) on Saturday night. He scored 17 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. ADA Blois Basket (13-9) is placed seventh in the NM1. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Kaunisto is ranked second on the list of the top scorers in the league and also on the list of best rebounders (first place). He has individually a very good season with high stats. Kaunisto averages: 17.6ppg, 11.2rpg and 1.7apg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Finnish National Team roster.

   #7. International guard Roope Ahonen (186-90, agency: FCM, currently plays in Sweden) couldn't help Solna Vikings (20-13) in their game against Sodertalje Kings (24-9) in the Swedish Basketligan. Ahonen scored 9 points in 21 minutes. But Solna Vikings lost 71-79 in Sodertalje to the higher-ranked (#3) Kings. Ahonen has relatively good stats this year: 10.7ppg, 1.6rpg and 4.1apg in the 32 games. He is also Finnish national team player.

   #8. Forward Lauri Toivonen (201-91, currently plays college basketball in the States) couldn't help the one of league's weakest teams UTPA (5-3) in their game against the Chicago State University (2-6) in the NCAA. Toivonen scored 6 points. The UTPA was defeated 63-55 in Chicago, IL by the Chicago State University. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. This season Toivonen has relatively solid stats: 10.7ppg, 1.6rpg and 4.1apg. He used to play for the Finnish university national team back in 2011.

Salon Vilpas managed to win third quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening.
