We bring you last week's top performances from Finns who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international point guard Petteri Koponen (194-88, currently plays in Euroleague). He led his Russian team Khimky to a victory over the seventh-ranked Fenerbahce Ulker (2-10) crushing them 99-76 in the Euroleague in Friday night's game. Koponen was MVP of the game. He scored 23 points and added 7 passes in 29 minutes on the court. BC Khimky Moscow Region (7-5) is placed second in group F. There are only two games left until the end of the Euroleague Top 16. So now every game will be critical. It's Koponen's first season with the team. This year Koponen averages: 6.3ppg, 1.9apg, 2FGP: 53.3%, 3FGP: 43.6% in the 19 games he played so far. He is currently a member of the Finnish senior national team.

Teemu Rannikko

   #2. Second place goes to an experienced international point guard Teemu Rannikko (189-80, currently plays in Adriatic League), who plays in Slovenia. Rannikko could not help Un.Olimpija (13-13) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance Un.Olimpija was defeated 79-75 on the road by the higher-ranked Buducnost (#5). Rannikko scored 10 points and added 4 passes. The Regular Season already ended in the Adriatic League. Rannikko's overall stats this season are: 7.0ppg, 1.2rpg, 3.2apg, 2FGP: 66.7%(18-27), 3FGP: 32.9% and FT: 87.1%. He is in the roster of the Finnish senior national team.

   #3. The Finnish player who performed third best last week abroad was an international power forward Tuukka Kotti (205-81, college: Providence, currently plays in Italy). Kotti contributed to an Vanoli Cremona's surprising victory against the second-ranked Banco di Sardegna Sassari (18-6) 108-91 in the Italian SerieA on Sunday night. He scored 19 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 25 minutes. Vanoli Cremona (10-14) is placed ninth in the SerieA. This year Kotti's overall stats are: 5.5ppg, 5.3rpg, 2FGP: 61.0%(50-82) and FT: 55.6% in the 22 games. He is also a member of the Finnish senior national team.

   #4. Center Gerald Lee (208-87, college: ODU, currently plays in Adriatic League) faced previously mentioned Teemu Rannikko in the Adriatic League last game. Lee was the major contributor in Buducnost's victory against the closely-ranked Un.Olimpija (13-13) 79-75. He scored 12 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. The Regular Season already ended in the Adriatic League. Lee has relatively good stats this season: 10.2ppg and 4.3rpg. He is a naturalized American. Lee is also Finnish national team player. Strangely he has never played in Finland.

Sasu Salin

   #5. International guard Sasu Salin (192-91, currently plays in Adriatic League) is a teammate of previously mentioned Teemu Rannikko and both played together in the last Adriatic League game. Salin was not able to help Un.Olimpija (13-13) in their game against Buducnost (16-10). He scored 6 points in 25 minutes. Un.Olimpija lost 75-79 in Podgorica to the higher-ranked (#5) Buducnost. Salin belongs to league's most steals and is ranked #4 with 1.6spg. This year he also averages: 7.5ppg and 3.2rpg in the 25 games. Salin plays currently for the Finnish national team.

Shawn Huff

   #6. Small forward Shawn Huff (198-84, college: Valparaiso, currently plays in Italy) contributed to an Upea CdO's victory against the closely-ranked Pall.Trento (9-12) 91-87 in the Italian Lega2 (second division) on Sunday night. He scored 16 points and grabbed 6 rebounds (was perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line). Upea Capo d'Orlando (10-12) is placed ninth in the Lega2. Huff has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 20.5ppg, 6.0rpg, 1.5apg and 3.0spg. Huff is an international player who is currently on the senior Finnish National Team roster.

   #7. International forward Ville Kaunisto (205-82, currently plays in France) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked JA Vichy (18-7) 92-75 in the French NM1 (third division) in Saturday night's game. He had a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 14 rebounds in 36 minutes. ADA Blois Basket (14-9) is placed fifth in the NM1. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Kaunisto is currently second on the league's list of top scorers and also on the list of best rebounders (first place). He has very impressive stats this year: 17.6ppg, 11.4rpg and 1.7apg in the 18 games. Kaunisto is also Finnish national team player.

   #8. Power forward Emir Sulejmanovic (204-95, currently plays in Adriatic League) is a teammate of previously mentioned Teemu Rannikko. He played also in the last Adriatic League game facing Sasu Salin (above) in the other team. Sulejmanovic was not able to secure a victory for Un.Olimpija (13-13) in their game against Buducnost (16-10). He cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. Sulejmanovic scored only 2 points. Un.Olimpija was defeated 79-75 in Podgorica by the higher-ranked Buducnost (#5). This season Sulejmanovic averages just 2.4ppg. He used to play for the Finnish U16 national team back in 2011.

   #9. International guard Roope Ahonen (186-90, agency: FCM, currently plays in Sweden) couldn't help Solna Vikings (20-13) in their game against Sodertalje Kings (24-9) in the Swedish Basketligan. Ahonen scored 9 points in 21 minutes. But Solna Vikings lost 71-79 in Sodertalje to the higher-ranked (#3) Kings. This year Ahonen has relatively solid stats: 10.4ppg, 1.5rpg and 4.0apg in the 34 games. He is also in the roster of the Finnish national team.

   #10. Power forward Joonas Caven (211-93, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Prat Juventud (13-7) in their game against Clinicas Rincon (12-8) in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division). Despite his good performance in Saturday night's game Caven was the second best scorer with 11 points. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Caven's total stats this season are: 8.1ppg and 2.6rpg. He is U20 international player who is currently on the Finnish National Team roster.

Lille Metropole Basket (ProB) signed 27-year old American forward Rakeem Buckles (203-98kg-90, college: FIU). He played last season at Kouvot in Finnish Korisliiga. In 37 games he had 14.5ppg, 9.5rpg (#2 in the league) and 1.0spg. A very impressive season as he was named to Eurobasket.com All-Finnish Korisliiga Honorable Mention. Karhu Kauhajoki (Korisliiga) signed 20-year old guard Henri Kantonen (197-97) from Kouvot. But in 27 Korisliiga games he had just 1.8ppg and 1.3rpg last season. He helped them to make it to the semifinals. A very impressive season as he was named to Eurobasket.com All-Finnish 1st Division B Honorable Mention. Hannes Koskinen is a newcomer at Lahti - 10 days ago
Lahti Basketball (1st Division) strengthened their roster with addition of 19-year old swingman Hannes Koskinen (198-98) from KaU Koris Karkkila. Koskinen has played there for the last four years. In 18 1st Division games he recorded very impressive stats: 15.3ppg, 6.5rpg, 1.1apg and 1.6spg last season.
