The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 88-85. Honka made 29-of-36 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game. Honka outrebounded Torpan Pojat 43-27 including 31 on the defensive glass. 30 personal fouls committed by Torpan Pojat helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for American guard Melissa Jeltema (175-88, college: Oakland) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds. Her fellow American import guard Jordan Murphree (183-87, college: Texas Tech, agency: Merit Sports) helped adding 26 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was the former international power forward Niina Laaksonen (185-85) with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds and American center Kenya McBee (192-83) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. Four Honka and five Torpan Pojat players scored in double figures.

Former NCAA Div. II Player of the Year, Kiana Johnson(168-G-93, college: Virginia Union), will return to Finland this month to play professionally for Tapiolan Honka (Espoo) of the top Finnish league for women. Kiana played for Forssan Alku (FoA club) in the same league in Finland last season. Hyvinkaan Ponteva (SM-sarja) tabbed 25-year old American guard Candice Warthen (165-92, college: Arizona). She played most recently at Lulea Basket in Swedish Damligan. In 20 games she averaged 6.9ppg, 3.3rpg and 2.0apg last season. Warthen helped them to win the Damligan title (twice) despite they ended the regular season at the second place (twice). Espoo Basket Team (SM-sarja) added to their roster 20-year old Finn guard Venla Salatera (176-97). She just graduated from Midland College (JUCO). The previous (15-16) season Salatera played at TuRi (1st Division). As mentioned above she is just out of the college and it will be her first season as a pro.
